I just tried to eat normal drumsticks that serfs eat from Safeway. Crap made me sick as hell.

There is a problem with feed companies trying to keep the price of feed down , which means peopel have to buy additional product ot ge the hens to lay eggs. Additionally, because of the feed inbalnce in nutrient, it is high in iron. This can cause bacteria to form in side the eggs before it is sealed. If the eggs set for more than 24 hours in a room tenerapture nesting box, than can forn toxins, but mostly black goo that is not safe nor eappitizing to consume.

So whenever possible first see if your back yard hens lay egs that float in a bowl of water in any way. A good eggs sould stay laying on it's side below the water. Next when breaking eggs, always break them independently in a drinking glass first, so you can se the condition of the yoke inside. If is cloudy or looks strange... when in doubt throw it out. Then their is the smell test. You can smell an obvious rotton egg. Throw it out. Your garden will love it.

Nothing wrong with the chicken feed.

It's POSSIBLE your hens have been tainted. But I'ma say the likelihood is less than 25%.

I own chicken's. 8 hens 1 rooster. They quit laying just before winter. They were multing, I was worried about why. Did some research online and said 14 hour's of daylight was required and it takes a lot of energy for the mult process. They did not lay for weeks.
There may be a problem with the food but I think there are a lot of new backyard owner's and yes many long time owners that said there was a problem.
I changed over to the Purina brand feed and let them free range for 15 or so hrs a week. I also put a solar led light in the nesting box that stays on for 2 hrs after sunset. All is back to (normal).
Getting an avg of 4-5 eggs a day.
I also add vitamins to the water.
I have some happy healthy chickens for now. We will all go up in ash together when Russia nukes us...

Lot of new owners don't know the hens require 14hrs of daylight to trigger the egg laying process. I am new to farming chickens too.. But we raised them when I was 8-10yo.

Many long time farmers have claimed something is wrong too. I had a bag of feed that got wet from rain that I was feeding mine. May of had mold or something growing on when mine stopped laying just happened to coincide with pre-winter multing, multing is them growing feathers.
There were clumps in the bottom of the feed bag. I suspected this is why mine quit laying. My neighbor also raised his from the same batch that mine came from stopped laying about 2 or so weeks after mine. I think he said his are laying normally now.

Dude, ive raised chickens for 20 years. Shoot, ive even experimented and feed my chickens only deer corn for 6 months and never seen a drop in production. Only very white yolks result. My chickens are hardy as fck due to my selective breading. We have -30F winters here, many winters had a drop in egg production. But NEVER like this... We get 0-2 eggs out of 20 hens this year with at 16 hour light in their coop. something is VERY wrong.

Would never buy Purina for my dog. Petco manager said look for the meat as first ingredient on bags, not meat meal as first ingredient.

Wonder if soylent green is in their feed, in addition to taking out required ingredients (amino acids) to help them form eggs?
