Yeah, this is a weird one. Arcturus?.....IDK There's always been Venus, and it gets a lot of attention for flashing at times but it's NEVER been that big. Neither has Jupiter. Would love to hear what Astro says.

I took this last Monday when the moon was close to Jupiter.

Jupiter is below and right of the moon.

That looks real to me. Looking closely it appears to be flashing colors, and is surrounded by an amber cloud of hot plasma gas. I've seen something similar.

I know what you’re talking about, I watch the stars a lot. There are a few that twinkle in different colors, Arcturus is one. One night I was looking at one of them, it was west but I don’t remember the time of year, probably summer. And there must have been some weird atmospheric interference because it appeared huge and you could really see it going through all the rainbow colors. I was almost thinking it was a UFO but it was a star, probably Arcturus.

If you get the sky view app you can just point your phone at the sky and it will tell you what you’re looking at. And you can search for planets, stars and constellations, too.
Forgive your enemies, it messes with their heads.

Thoughts create, mind them well.

Mars is straight up next to the moon. Should make for a good picture with the Pleiades (Subaru) star cluster nearby.

How long did you watch it for? did it move with other stars or independant of them? Which direction were you looking? Looks like Jupiter.

It did not move. Just changed colors. Felt out of place and it is cloudy tonight. When it is a clear night I will see if it is there again. It was West.

But yes those blinky ufoes are normal

Some binary star systems also blink, as the different stars are different kind of stars, white, yellow, orange, red and blue.

If it blinks and stays put, it's prob a binary system.

If it moves then a drone/ufo

Yes, and that’s normal / common. Look up scintillation with stars and you’ll get the explanation.

It’s a star. Most likely multiple stars in one system in close proximity to one another. Arcturus flickers like that too. Because there is Arcturus A and B.

Download SkyView and stop with this nonsense

If it’s not a drone it will be there again night after night
