Thought the same thing as pitocin produces contractions but then maybe the afterbirth didn't come out in its entirety and this is what is causing the infection? More and more i'm hearing of women getting terrible infections after they give birth and makes you wonder what are they doing that they haven't done all these years cause, years ago, infections were rare.

Infections were more common years ago, but they still happen.

I can't see why they wouldn't let her nurse. They may only let her nurse a little (so baby can get colostrum) but seeing as she is on IV, and probably getting Iron, she isn't at risk from dehydrating. The Pitocin causes uterine contractions. That "clamping down" of the uterus helps reduce the bleeding.

She had bad clots, so I would say the pitocin helped get them out.

I don't know if she is nursing. Her blood count is very low ATM. She is also getting antibiotics IV. I hope she can at least expel, if they won't let her nurse ATM.
If she isn't, they get downright painful !!! I had to wait a couple of days after I had my youngest by an emergency c-section. She was coming out feet first, Yikes ! I was so sore, and so glad when I finally got to nurse her !

Lord Jesus, please help our friend recover quickly so that she may be with her precious family. Amen.

If the clotting continues, they will likely do a D&C which is better than bleeding heavily. One tiny piece of placenta left behind can cause severe infection and hemorrhaging. Depending on the type of antibiotics and other meds they are giving her, baby might not be able to have this milk. She can pump and dump the milk, can also help with contractions.

I hope everything goes well from here on out and that God helps and protects her

That's when I would have invested in a breast pump!!!

Still pulling for her! May she get past this and go n home c with her family.

I know it's kind of weird, but CT's the same age (about) as my kids. I sort of feel like she's one of my GLP kids, you know? She's been on here for years! I remember when she first joined. She's such a special young woman!

UPDATE !!!

She is able to breastfeed little Reese ! He is in the room with her at the hospital. The doctor had to "sweep" out the blood clots from her insides. They were stuck !

Overall, Cigar Tigher seems to be perked up quite a bit this afternoon ! She is really so happy to be a Mom !!! She is really tired though. This wasn't an easy time like she thought she would have.

I don't know if she will post a pic on GLP, due to privacy concerns. She did send me a pic. I would describe him as a round, beautiful cherub, with dark straight short hair and the chubbiest rosy cheeks ! His fair skin just glows ! He has a cute upturn nose and cupid bow lips ! He is absolutely ADORABLE !!! He is more perfect than any statue an artist could make !

I am not sure how long she will be in the hospital. It is going to depend on how quick her blood levels come back up to near normal. Other than that, she definitely is doing better this afternoon.

Please keep the prayers coming for Cigar Tigher to be totally healed, so her and the baby can go home real soon !

I really don't know. Whatever they are doing is making her feel better. She is on the road to recovery, IMO.
