If Chinese balloon has a payload the size of a bus, it has to be an Amazon Shipping beta test. It's above commercial airspace so it should not pose a threat to air traffic.

Also, I know Amazon was thinking of using electrolyzed water/hydrogen balloons and GPS technology to circumvent the shipping industry's maritime chokehold on goods transportation. The GPS can trigger the balloon to make a controlled descent once it reaches a coordinate such as a democrat sponsored Chinese special economic zone in the Continental United States.

Reconnecting the dots, perhaps this is globalism's last gasp of breath before WW3.

Peter Zeihan says globalism is over. This is due to the closure of shipping traffic from the COVID plandemic and America's withdrawal of their navy acting as the global antipiracy police force. So Amazon's disruptive technology is a God sent gift. This can make shipping independent from petroleum since solar panels could be used to create the hydrogen fueling these balloons and may avert the need for war.

It's been established beyond doubt that Biden is compromised by the millions of dollars of "business" that he and his son Hunter have conducted with that country. We also know that he is compromised through illicit Ukrainian deals which have also enriched him and his son.

The COVID-19 and mRNA biological warfare attacks are being exposed, which threatens him, his administration, China, and many others.

It is highly likely that the Biden administration has been working with the Chinese even before the maneuverable balloons were deployed.

It's possible that the balloon is an EMP weapon, but one EMP detonation at 10–12 miles up, would likely only impact a 25-100 mile radius (depending upon when and where it was detonated), too small to accomplish much more than provoke the US to declare war on China.

On the other hand, the balloon might be setting a precedence intended to desensitize the American people to having Chinese balloons drift over the country. In that case, the plan might involve a later attack where multiple balloons drift over the US at once and detonating the EMP devices simultaneously, knocking out power in critical areas, crippling the US and making it vulnerable for invasion or limited nuclear war.

Well it seems to be well signalled, there is a Chinese EMP attack on the way - you would imagine that the US would pre-emptively nuke China into a parking lot at this point.

In simple cost terms, it costs $10,000/lb to put a payload into orbit. ($140 million for a 7 ton payload). it costs almost nothing to put a 7 ton payload onto a balloon.

Also, the stuff on the balloon will be closer to everything, giving better images.
