Incredible, this will have this double main tracks backed up for a week. Lots of freight will be rerouted or standing by. I woke up tonight to see where I was lined up for a work call and see this. Crazy

Like I mentioned earlier, we put two or three tracks together to build these N series freight trains and we have a lot of new guys. I’m concerned that he didn’t loosen a handbrake which heated up the train travelled a few miles, coupled with the extreme cold this can cause issues. I say this because the hand brakes are usually in the middle of the train and the according to the photos this looks like where the issue is. Pure speculation but entirely possible.

What should we stock up on in the wee hours of Saturday morning that may not be available for a while due to this...if you know?

I don’t think this will effect supplies, these railroads reroute traffic through other territories and keep stuff somewhat functional.

Amtrak runs through here too NS will have it cleaned up quicker than you’d think.

That was in July 2013: a runaway train with 73 cars of crude oil (the idiot conductor didn't set the brakes properly, he left and the train rolled away) derailed right in the middle of town, it was an enormous fire. 47 died.

Correct, the engine shut down and that what’s was holding the brakes, a manager told him to wing it and he did.

Work out of Conway, it’s split east and west and I run west which is this line we’re seeing.

I believe we in fact clipped the marathon or Texaco that is 50 feet from the tracks.

My concern would be to keep the fires from heating the chlorine tanks and causing a release.

This is fucking tragic! The oil tankers, fire, chlorine and grid is cold. Absolute nightmare for all parties.
