In exchange for the CCP to give the US permission to shoot the balloon down, we had to do it after it's mission and in a location where the electronics and assembly would either be completely destroyed or not able to be located.

This was hardly a shot over the bow

a little overly dramatic.

It could have easily been shot down over the aleutians before it even crossed in to mainland Alaska. Or easily over the Pacific before it hit the contiguous US.

This balloon was a whole lot of nothing. It's simply China playing games and the US welcoming the distraction

Ladies and Gentlemen, the almighty USA just shut down a balloon. After decades of fighting a desert army on goats, they reached a new level of professionalism.

yes. but that only makes sense if you're a Democrat or mentally retarded. they could've put it down over an unpopulated area anywhere in Montana as they had their pick of locales. and then they could've picked it up on dry land, a very easy recovery. but instead they decide to drop it in the water damaging it so both the recovery & forensic analysis of it is more difficult if not impossible. one must conclude that this was a coordinated effort between China & the US Government to subvert the USA.

A shame that the cameraman didn't pull back wide enough to see the inbound jet and the missile launch.

ANd then failed to follow the payload as it descended very quickly after the explosion.

Everything about the situation was screwy.

The explosion caused a lot of debris, and you can see it above the balloon as it was falling.

Because it was above the balloon, I'm assuming it was fragments of the balloon materials, which were much lighter.

And then to have it drop into most corrosive spot...salt water....after it already traversed the entire country.
