Anonymous Coward User ID: 84082465 United States 02/07/2023 10:56 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The St. Lawrence Rift Zone is NOT shown on the map either ... but that is where the North American Plate is splitting in two It has always been my contention that the New Madrid is merely a continuation of the split of the North American Plate that is marked on the surface by the St. Lawrence Rift Zone, where the Atlantic Ocean comes 600 miles inland in fact, all the way to Quebec City. If the middle part of that Rift Zone ever gives way ie: the area between western Illinois and Quebec City, it would mark the greatest EQ on the earth since humans existed. A little tracing of the known faults and smaller EQs put's that rift zone as coming down Lake Ontario from Quebec City, to the Buffalo Niagara area, and then down Lake Erie finally coming ashore right in the middle of downtown Cleveland, then cutting diagonally across Ohio and Indiana (North of Indianapolis) so as to meet up with the Wabash fault in western Indiana (which many believe is the eastern continuation of the New Madrid fault) I do pay attention to the quakes that occur along that potential RIFT FAULT LINE since they could well be the markers of when the NEXT break occurs wrt that breaking apart of the North American Plate. |
