I'll start. If you're going to raise chickens make the pen with welded wire NOT chicken wire. It is a lot tougher and foxes can't chew through it. Make the sides 6 foot tall and run bailing wire back and forth across the top about 6 inches apart. This will prevent hawks from being able to get in from the air. Dig a 4 inch wide trench 6 inches deep around the bottom of the fence and fill it with cement. This will keep predators from digging under.

We gave our drones to Ukraine. However they will make more and yes, remote living will just buy you some time. But you will be safe from the hordes of sheep who are your worst enemy.

I used 6' tall deer fencing covered with aviary wire, and I just buried it in the ground about a foot. Nothing ever got in. I covered the top of the chicken yard with 10' steel electrical conduit, chicken wire, and tarps to keep the 10' x 20' yard dry in the winter. I used a 10' x 9' steel garden shed for the chicken coop, and I covered the ground with wire so nothing could dig up into the chicken coop.

If I did it again I'd pour a 30' x 10' slab, and have a hinged 10' x 1' opening at the back of the coop to hose off the cement, and get rid of the chicken poop. I made my roost so it could hang up on the ceiling of the coop, for cleaning.

One thing you will find out. Whatever you figure it will cost and how long it will take you need to DOUBLE IT. Many factors come into play. Transporting all the materials, fuel, if you need a part you don't have it's a trip to town and half a day or more wasted.

I have friends that live off grid (Oregon), and their biggest complaints are about batteries.

I have everything to go off grid, except the batteries, but I've never had the incentive to go all the way.

I bought everything for a major disaster. My well is also fully lined to protect it from major earthquakes.

Don't build an A Frame! They suck! And make your roof pitches face north and south for solar panel mounting. I have 2 stationary panels on the south of my roof and 2 manual turning racks for the rest.

I had a 400 watt turbine and I hated it. It was noisy and only put out 14 volts so the wire loss was bad 30ft of #5 wire, I sold it and bought more solar. I can charge my batteries with the generator through my inverter in 1 hour, its a lot better.

I love my Honda! I've used it quite a few times for power outages.

Instead of buying those stupid little starter batteries, I bought a big deep cycle, and extended the hookup cables, which I disconnect to keep the battery in good shape. I've had the deep cycle battery for about 4 or 5 years now, and it's going strong. Those crappy little started batteries only seem to last a couple of years.

Go to a local battery dealer. Get US Battery or Surrette. Shipping batteries cost a fortune and you have to pay core charge or ship your old batteries to them (way expensive).
