The skills for a future global conflict: medicine, engineering, skilled trades, small unit/light infantry, insurgency/counterinsurgency, and physical defensive skills such as building rapid fortifications. The Army has cut back on the use of forward observers significantly. Why send a FO, radio operator and security team when you can send a drone which will give you a 10 digit grid in 15 minutes? I just read that the Air Force is finalizing plans to trash a good amount of A-10s and replace them in the close air support role with F35s. I was infantry, but it only serves the ENTIRE force to cross train.. special forces learned that lesson. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 73245100 and forgot and had to learn again and again.
