Who Is Leading God’s People Today?
Who Is Leading God’s People Today

“Remember those who are taking the lead among you.”—HEBREWS 13:7.
CAN YOU EXPLAIN?

During the apostles’ time and today, how have those taking the lead among God’s people been . . .

empowered by holy spirit?

helped by angels?

guided by God’s Word?

1, 2. After Jesus went to heaven, what may the apostles have wondered?

JESUS’ apostles stood on the Mount of Olives and watched as their master and friend, Jesus, was lifted up toward heaven and hidden by a cloud. (Acts 1:9, 10) For about two years, Jesus had taught, encouraged, and led them. But now he was gone. What would they do?

Re: Who Is Leading God’s People Today?
2 Before going to heaven, Jesus told his followers: “You will be witnesses of me in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the most distant part of the earth.” (Acts 1:8) How could they possibly do that work? Jesus had promised that God’s holy spirit would help them. (Acts 1:5) But who would direct them and organize the worldwide preaching work? The apostles knew that Jehovah had used men to lead the Israelites in the past. So they may have wondered whether Jehovah would now choose a new leader.

Re: Who Is Leading God’s People Today?
3. (a) After Jesus went to heaven, what important decision did the faithful apostles make? (b) What questions will we answer in this article?

3 Soon after Jesus went to heaven, his disciples consulted the Scriptures, prayed to God for help, and chose Matthias to replace Judas Iscariot as the 12th apostle. (Acts 1:15-26) Why was this selection so important to them and to Jehovah? The disciples realized that there needed to be 12 apostles. * (See footnote.) Jesus had chosen the apostles and trained them for a very important role among God’s people. What was that role, and how did Jehovah and Jesus prepare them for it? What similar arrangement exists today? And how can we “remember those who are taking the lead” among us, especially “the faithful and discreet slave”?—Hebrews 13:7; Matthew 24:45.

JESUS LEADS THE GOVERNING BODY

4. What role did the apostles and other elders in Jerusalem have?

4 The apostles began to take the lead in the Christian congregation at Pentecost in the year 33. The Bible says that “Peter stood up with the Eleven” and taught lifesaving truths to a large crowd. (Acts 2:14, 15) Many people in that crowd became Christians. After that, those new Christians “continued devoting themselves to the teaching of the apostles.” (Acts 2:42) The apostles were responsible for managing the money of the congregation. (Acts 4:34, 35) They also taught God’s people and prayed for them, saying: “We will devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the word.” (Acts 6:4) And they sent experienced Christians to preach in new territories. (Acts 8:14, 15) Later, other anointed elders joined the apostles in taking the lead in the congregation. As a governing body, they gave direction to all the congregations.—Acts 15:2.

Jesus doesn't lead the Governing Body. If the Governing Body was being led by Jesus, they wouldn't have pushed Satan's death Vax on all their members. Nor would they be turning on each other kicking Governing Body members out. Nor would they be fighting the authorities to keep from turning over records of child molesters. But since in fact they do these things, there is no doubt they are not led by Jesus.

Schism of the Russian Church: [link to en.wikipedia.org (secure)]

The Schism of the Russian Church, also known as Raskol (meaning "split" or "schism"), was the splitting of the Russian Orthodox Church into an official church and the Old Believers movement in the mid-17th century. It was triggered by the reforms of Patriarch Nikon in 1653, which aimed to establish uniformity between Greek and Russian church practices.

The most radical apologists of the Raskol preached about approaching Armageddon and coming of the Antichrist, Tsar's and patriarch's worshiping of Satan, which ideas would find a broad response among the Russian people, sympathizing with the ideology of these most radical apologetes. The Raskol movement thus became a vanguard of the conservative and at the same time democratic opposition.

The Raskol (schism) still exists, and with it a certain antagonism between the Russian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate and the Old Believers, although on an official level both sides have agreed on a peaceful coexistence. From an ecclesiastic and theological point of view the Raskol remains a highly controversial question and one of the most tragic episodes of Russian history.

5 Christians in the first century knew that Jehovah was directing the governing body through Jesus. How could they be sure? First, holy spirit empowered the governing body. (John 16:13) All anointed Christians received holy spirit, but it specifically empowered the apostles and the elders in Jerusalem to carry out their role as overseers. For example, in the year 49, holy spirit guided the governing body to make a decision about circumcision. The congregations followed that direction. As a result, they “continued to be made firm in the faith and to increase in number day by day.” (Acts 16:4, 5) From the letter to the congregations about circumcision, we can see that the governing body had God’s spirit and showed qualities such as love and faith.—Acts 15:11, 25-29; Galatians 5:22, 23.

What does the GB say about 1914?
 Quoting: DGN

“the ones taking-the-lead” in )ws have “let the Bible interpret the Bible”, w/ really good results IMO-

1914—A Significant Year in Bible Prophecy

DECADES in advance, Bible students proclaimed that there would be significant developments in 1914. What were these, and what evidence points to 1914 as such an important year?

As recorded at Luke 21:24, Jesus said: “Jerusalem will be trampled on by the nations until the appointed times of the nations [“the times of the G3ntiles,” King James Version] are fulfilled.” Jerusalem had been the capital city of the )3wish nation—the seat of rulership of the line of kings from the house of King David. (Psalm 48:1, 2) However, these kings were unique among national leaders. They sat on “Jehovah’s throne” as representatives of God himself. (1 Chronicles 29:23) Jerusalem was thus a symbol of Jehovah’s rulership.

How and when, though, did God’s rulership begin to be “trampled on by the nations”? This happened in 607 B.C.E. when Jerusalem was conquered by the Babylonians. “Jehovah’s throne” became vacant, and the line of kings who descended from David was interrupted. (2 Kings 25:1-26) Would this ‘trampling’ go on forever? No, for the prophecy of Ezekiel said regarding Jerusalem’s last king, Zedekiah: “Remove the turban, and take off the crown. . . . It will not belong to anyone until the one who has the legal right comes, and I will give it to him.” (Ezekiel 21:26, 27) “The one who has the legal right” to the Davidic crown is Christ Jesus. (Luke 1:32, 33) So the ‘trampling’ would end when Jesus became King.

When would that grand event occur? Jesus showed that the G3ntiles would rule for a fixed period of time. The account in Daniel chapter 4 holds the key to knowing how long that period would last. It relates a prophetic dream experienced by King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon. He saw a tree of enormous height that was chopped down. Its stump could not grow because it was banded with iron and copper. An angel declared: “Let seven times pass over it.”—Daniel 4:10-16.

In the Bible, trees are sometimes used to represent rulership. (Ezekiel 17:22-24; 31:2-5) So the chopping down of the symbolic tree represents how God’s rulership, as expressed through the kings at Jerusalem, would be interrupted. However, the vision served notice that this ‘trampling of Jerusalem’ would be temporary—a period of “seven times.” How long a period is that?

Revelation 12:6, 14 indicates that three and a half times equal “1,260 days.” “Seven times” would therefore last twice as long, or 2,520 days. But the G3ntile nations did not stop ‘trampling’ on God’s rulership a mere 2,520 days after Jerusalem’s fall. Evidently, then, this prophecy covers a much longer period of time. On the basis of Numbers 14:34 and Ezekiel 4:6, which speak of “a day for a year,” the “seven times” would cover 2,520 years.

The 2,520 years began in October 607 B.C.E., when Jerusalem fell to the Babylonians and the Davidic king was taken off his throne. The period ended in October 1914. At that time, “the appointed times of the nations” ended, and Jesus Christ was installed as God’s heavenly King.a—Psalm 2:1-6; Daniel 7:13, 14.

Just as Jesus predicted, his “presence” as heavenly King has been marked by dramatic world developments—war, famine, earthquakes, pestilences. (Matthew 24:3-8; Luke 21:11) Such developments bear powerful testimony to the fact that 1914 indeed marked the birth of God’s heavenly Kingdom and the beginning of “the last days” of this present wicked system of things.—2 Timothy 3:1-5.

* From October 607 B.C.E. to October 1 B.C.E. is 606 years. Since there is no zero year, from October 1 B.C.E. to October 1914 C.E. is 1,914 years. By adding 606 years and 1,914 years, we get 2,520 years. For information on Jerusalem’s fall in 607 B.C.E., see the article “Chronology” in Insight on the Scriptures, published by Jehovah’s Witnesses.

 Quoting: DGN

Jesus doesn't lead the Governing Body. If the Governing Body was being led by Jesus, they wouldn't have pushed Satan's death Vax on all their members. Nor would they be turning on each other kicking Governing Body members out. Nor would they be fighting the authorities to keep from turning over records of child molesters. But since in fact they do these things, there is no doubt they are not led by Jesus.

Nobody, you are supposed to read the Bible yourself, so you get the right version. Listening to liars will only mean you will not be alive for the 1,000 year reign.

Ph'p:2:12:
Wherefore,
my beloved,
as ye have always obeyed,
not as in my presence only,
but now much more in my absence,
work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

Not the jehovas wottnesses...the holy spirit is and through prayer the people do deep from there inner soul to the creator through yeshua not through your stupid governing body crap...God searches hearts and not groups or religions or churches... it won't be your kingdom halls full of people. Itl be the people he sees and them only..

Heb. 10
23 Let us hold firmly the public declaration of our hope without wavering, for the one who promised is faithful.

24 And let us consider one another so as to incite to love and fine works,

25 not forsaking our meeting together, as some have the custom, but encouraging one another, and all the more so as you see the day drawing near.

Right Jehovah's servants are organized into congregations same as first century, not scattered stragglers.
John to the seven congregations that are in the province of Asia:
May you have undeserved kindness and peace from “the One who is and who was and who is coming,” and from the seven spirits that are before his throne, 5 and from Jesus Christ, “the Faithful Witness,” “the firstborn from the dead,” and “the Ruler of the kings of the earth.” Rv1:4

A different opinion-

* Jason BeDuhn called it: “the Protestant’s Burden.” (Truth in Translation, pages 163-4)
*
* That is, Protestants are under the burden to read doctrines like Trinitarianism into the Bible, even if they are not actually there.
* On the other hand, Jehovah’s Witnesses have been “approaching the Bible with a sense of innocence, and building their system of belief and practice from the raw material of the Bible without predetermining what was to be found there.”
*
* This “has meant a fresh approach to the text, with far less presumption than that found in many of the Protestant translations.” (Ibid., pages 164-5)]
