Let boomers pay their own shits. You know, I am disabled. So is my wife. If we didn't get social security we would die. We get just barely enough to survive. There is zero extra to save or plan for. I am getting sick of people like you wanting to make my life even harder. It's not my fault those idiots in office took the money from the trust fund. But they did. That doesn't make the obligation of the government go away. Leave us poor folk alone. We have it bad enough. We can't survive any cuts. It's bad enough they took away our food stamps. Try to live off $75 a month in food. Just try. See if you think you need less. The whole thing was a PONZI scheme from the beginning. Moral people would have realized this was going to bankrupt their kids and demanded it be repealed. The Boomers were the only generation that had the required size to make a difference. They instead CHOOSE to burden future generations with their retirements - just as you are arguing that you still deserve something out of other people's pockets now. Shouldn't you be living with your kids? Shouldn't you kids be taking care of you? If they won't, why should I , a complete stranger be doing that? Its your generation's prevalent collectivist attitude that other people are resources for your own use that is the problem. You are responsible for you - You should have saved for your old age. You should have children that care enough about you to care for you. I am not responsible for your life, and if you die why should I care? You see me as a walking wallet- not a person. SO why should I treat you like a person when you won't reciprocate? Bullshit. SS was supposed to be insurance, in case you lived long enough to be unable to work. Just like car insurance, you are paying a premium. That is why no money is paid if you die before retirement age. The problem was that Washington took the money and spent it, it was supposed to have been left alone. SSA has a very good web site ,maybe you should consider checking it out |

User ID: 80494230 ![]() 03/18/2023 06:28 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | ... Quoting: Weisshaupt The sheer size of the generation made them politically powerful. They did nothing to stop or overturn anything - knowing full well that the younger generations following them would be denied those benefits after they had them safely in hand and suffer though a complete collapse. Selfish generation who never cared what happened to their kids and grandkids and that is how history will remember them The last time Congress and President worked together to fix Social Security. I don’t see a single boomer up there…the oldest were just turning 37 in 1983. Enjoy and learn your history Precisely my point - The boomers did NOTHING about it . Just accepted thier kids would be screwed by the system and they would be the last generation of Americans to ever "retire" with benefits. Everyone after GEN X has to pay for the boomers retirement though SS taxes and regular taxation on the government bonds SS funds were invested in AND save for thier own retirements. Boomers knew this and DID NOTHING about it for the last 4 decades. Well then let’s cut back to 75 cents on the dollar as anticipated around 2034 and make it a sheer pay as you go system. That can be the new base that Reagan is talking about here in 1983. That base is still something. People do need some kind of supplement in retirement and the payroll tax guarantees something there for them. Just leave it as it is with no changes to the SS Act and reduce the benefits as provided by the law. Problem solved. Stop forcing peolpe to participate. Problem solved. I have already paid in far for than I will ever get - so you can take your pay as you go and shove it. I'll take my own money and pay for my own retirement. You can't - I don't care- thief. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 83539868 For 40 years of your work, what you earned doesn't even account for 10% of the money the government will need to spend on you in the future. And saying that you've paid everything off is ridiculous. It’s like you are asking for something worth a thousand dollars after paying only a hundred dollars. This is socialism. At age 55, the last SS statement I got (about 5 months ago), showed that both my employers and myself (since the age of 14 when I started working) have contributed: Me - $219K My Employers - $219K So $438,000, plus I'm still working now and can't even qualify for SS full benefits for another 10 years (age 65). At age 65, based on today's numbers, I will collect $3,100 per month, or roughly $37,000 per year. I'd have to collect that amount for 13 years just to recoup what my employers and myself have put into the program, NOT INCLUDING ANY GROWTH OVER THE LAST 40 YEARS! It's a rip off. If they offered me all of my money (and my employers contributions) + a retroactive 2% per year interest, then I would cash out. Guess you were stupid to pay in,Ukraine But they won’t make you an offer…it’s always been a pay forward program. All sales are final. No refunds allowed. I know, excuse my sarcasm |
