At age 55, the last SS statement I got (about 5 months ago), showed that both my employers and myself (since the age of 14 when I started working) have contributed:
Me - $219K My Employers - $219K
So $438,000, plus I'm still working now and can't even qualify for SS full benefits for another 10 years (age 65).
At age 65, based on today's numbers, I will collect $3,100 per month, or roughly $37,000 per year.
I'd have to collect that amount for 13 years just to recoup what my employers and myself have put into the program, NOT INCLUDING ANY GROWTH OVER THE LAST 40 YEARS!
It's a rip off.
If they offered me all of my money (and my employers contributions) + a retroactive 2% per year interest, then I would cash out.
Quoting: Anonymous Coward 80529282 Guess you were stupid to pay in,Ukraine Quoting: ondrunn But they won’t make you an offer…it’s always been a pay forward program. All sales are final. No refunds allowed. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 85459804 We could write letters to our legislature and senators to defund the Ukraine psyop, no? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 69539356 Yeah send them letters so they can throw them right into the garbage can
