We need to cut back medicare and social security from retired boomers

The problem is that life expectancy has increased significantly... They can't do anything with the small amount of money you gave in. And our government has already spent all the money and has been bankrupt for a long time. We were resolving everything through negative spending.

If you had invested in a bankrupt company, the money would have disappeared, and you would have to take responsibility for it yourself.

Anyone under 70 obviously knew soc sec taken out of their paychecks was never going to be given back. It wasn't a choice.

People don't understand the problem with social security.

Remember back in Bill Clinton Presidency. when he and Newt Gingrich "reformed welfare"---that was a lying politician sleight of hand. Essentially they did not "reform" welfare--they changed SS eligibility laws to allow people kicked offf welfare to be on Social Security.

Millions of people who never or short time paid IN to SS are receiving full SS benefits.

My Dad died at 65. My husband died at 67. I have had several friends and family members who died in their 40's and 50's. Where did all the money go?

I was told in the 80's that SS won't be there for me.....so I lived my life planning without it.....I retired not needing SS due to the good financial decisions I made....but lo and behold, I do receive beer money every month....yes....I am a reviled B00Maaaaaah!....LOL..

Shouldn't you be living with your kids? Shouldn't you kids be taking care of you? If they won't, why should I , a complete stranger be doing that? You know, I am disabled. So is my wife. If we didn't get social security we would die. We get just barely enough to survive. There is zero extra to save or plan for. I am getting sick of people like you wanting to make my life even harder. It's not my fault those idiots in office took the money from the trust fund. But they did. That doesn't make the obligation of the government go away.

Leave us poor folk alone. We have it bad enough. We can't survive any cuts. It's bad enough they took away our food stamps. Try to live off $75 a month in food. Just try. See if you think you need less.

Precisely my point - The boomers did NOTHING about it . Just accepted thier kids would be screwed by the system and they would be the last generation of Americans to ever "retire" with benefits. Everyone after GEN X has to pay for the boomers retirement though SS taxes and regular taxation on the government bonds SS funds were invested in AND save for thier own retirements. Boomers knew this and DID NOTHING about it for the last 4 decades.
