we're really seeing the emergence of human level AI

did u know this AI passed the bar exam at the 90th percentile? it scores above average on a number of human tests, for example parts of the SAT, GRE etc

wow some of the things it does

- it reads like 10 pages of tax codes, and then explains why an exmple couples deduction is what it is citing the specific sections

- it is given a rough, ugly sketch of a simple web page and then writes the actual web page code, including javascript to make buttons work

2. Create/Sign-in to account
3. In an Edge sign-in, visit bing.com/new and Join Waitlist. on macOS I was approved immediately.
4. Relaunch and/or wait some time for it to activate
5. Use the chat/compose from bing.com/new. It's also supposed to work from the browser's built-in Discover pane (click blue 'B' in top-right of window), but that wasn't working for me.

this thing is scary

these generative models which predicts "what comes next" in text could be applied to robotics it seems to me, to produce robots that move like atheletes

in terms of its level of understanding, its able to explain in detail what is shown in an image

it's able to write complex computer code, for example, it wrote code to embed in "discccord" a chat server to allow users to interact with it, when it initially had problems he just pasted the error messages and it fixed it

it can read 16 pages of tax code and give a detailed explanation of the taxes someone owes ( which is probably why it scored in to 10% on a bar exam ... it literally did well enough on a bar exam to become a licensed lawyer )

we seem to have almost created our replacements

this isn't 50 years from now, this is happening now, and in another 5 years it seems to me we're likely to see something that has true human level and super human level general AI

we are really being replaced yes ? maybe now we understand the effort to exterminate (most) of the human race, they knew this technology was ready, what we are seeing here may be a fraction of what the true state of the art is in the classified realm

people should be freaking out over this

if you understand what super human AI would mean, and the fact this appears to show we are very close to achieving that

in fact one could say it has achieved that, based on a top 10% score on a bar exam, and in the top 30% on many other academic exams, but i don't think its ready to power a robot and manipulate its environment, create new and improved versions of itself, i get the impression its not truly a general AI yet

so ... why AREN'T you freaking out ? you must not understand what this represents

the news media is downplaying it, Atlantic article said it has the memory of a Goldfish, well bullshit, it read 16 pages of tax code and found the small specific citations relevant to a question

well enjoy the period between the emergence of super human AI and our extermination

super human AI will make possible some really amazing experiences, entertainment, virtual realities
