It isn't 'aliens'...it is remnants of a past civilization on Earth. They failed a test of sorts...Elements of their culture survived and now seek to 'piggy-back' humanity to continue their ascension.
As you can see...going against natural order and 'hi-jacking' the age change doesn't manifest itself like predicted by them...
