Forum Administrator 03/23/2023 09:27 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Thinking about this last evening. I think Lindsey Buckingham is one of the most underrated guitarists. Quoting: LadyeJaneSmith Time stamp 2:20 The most difficult of performances is being able to sing a difficult set of lyrics while playing a complex guitar riff solo. Few do it well. Buckingham is one of the best in the world at it... (Impatient people can skip the first 45-seconds) I agree. Personally, cannot do either, but can imagine how challenging, and how much talent it takes to do so. Anonymous Coward User ID: 72704150 United States 03/23/2023 09:32 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | EVH IS THE GOAT Not because he invented what everyone else was trying to do, not because he’s the most copied guitarist ever, not because he’s one of the greatest live performers ever, but he’s the GOAT because he’s arguably the greatest SONGWRITER of the last 50 years. If you can’t bring you’re genius to the masses, it’s irrelevant. EVH’s the greatest cause he did BOTH. No one know who the rest of these clowns are…unless you are the dork who works at Guitar Center… |

I’ve been paid for my playing so I guess that qualifies me as a pro lol. It’s not my job though. I can play some very shreddy stuff but I also have a couple of nylons that I’ve spent hundreds of hours playing. I can play eruption. I can play tornado of souls. I can play moonlight sonata. I CANNOT sing and play Mary had a little lamb at the same time. Last Edited by War Dance on 03/23/2023 09:34 AM Let’s make it 110. XIV |

He was able to separate his technique from his phrasing so that he could play anything with any kind of phrasing. An incredible level of musicianship that reveals a mastery of not just technique, but of ear-training and internalization of music. One of my favorite tracks. |

Id be the first to admit a ton of Holdsworth is inaccessible and nigh on unalistenable, his entire point though was he was basically channeling coltrane or charlie parker as a guitar player instead of sax. |

Guthrie is amazing, i'll give you that but I would put either of these Guys above Guthrie, better songs, better and more melodic soloing and they both have 20 times more credits to their names than Guthrie will ever have. any of these Guys are better than Guthrie imho |
