I live in Texas, we actually have such a massive budget surplus, that the legislature is looking at reducing property taxes, or sending refunds out to Texas citizens? Money notwithstanding, Texas, along with most southern tier states, can be self reliant. Maybe we won't have massive selections, but, especially if we develop trade agreements with each other, we can stand alone.

The above is the best approach, the peaceful divorce, as others have mentioned, allowing people time to move to their prefered area of residence, establishing trade agreements, and letting each other live as we wish to live. Oh, and no immigration between areas for at least a minimum of 100 years.

Not supporting national welfare via income tax and state welfare via property taxes makes all red states instantly in the black.
That theft and forced imbalance ends when the Federal leash is snapped.
