Anonymous Coward User ID: 44307249 Canada 04/03/2023 10:35 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I was online in the early mid 90's and I still remember when the internet celebrated 1M sites and there was options galore to invest in the domain names...All kinds of early first foot in the door investment opportunity's. HELL YA I missed that boat big time because I had NO clue....I wish someone told me...I was already doing great financially back then so guess I was complacent. |

Companies and people were speculating on what would be a popular name. What people didn't know was that as names were snapped up and sold off people making websites just went with wacky names they could get. Look at all the nonsense websites we use on a daily basis. This isn't because it is unique it's because it is cheap. Proud member of the angry mob since 2009. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 86483596 United States 01/09/2024 10:42 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It turned out to be a bust when companies used the legal system to take them. I think the guise was trademark laws. Very few people made millions buying domains. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 66177791 It's crazy, there are still a few available out there that would make millions with a simple redirect. Yet thousands of utterly stupid ones are hoarded and claimed to be "premium". |
