The Red Army suffered more casualties in the last couple of weeks of WW II capturing Berlin as the USA did during the entire war--all theaters.

I suspect the Russian Army today would be met by the population throwing flowers before them--odd enough, much as Ukrainians did for the German Army in 1941.
