The quality of the fat you put in is key. I usually put dried cranberries in mine, but any berry will do, long as you dehydrate the moisture out. I also made some with seeded wild grapes, but if you get the seeds out first it's better. I canned some duck meat, opened a jar of it, and it's really good. I canned it raw pack and processed in the pressure canner, and I was worried because duck is a delicate meat. But it turned out great. Pemmican and canned meat make good storage foods. |
