Gifts of the Holy Spirit or Divination? How do you know?

Take the gift of "knowledge."

Those outside of the bible recognize this as Clair cognizance.

The gift of prophecy....

Does that even still exist by today's bible standards? or is that deemed to be divination?

How about speaking in diverse tongues.....

could that mean communicating telepathically as well?


Is THAT divination?

The gift of discernment...... how do you know you are discerning correctly? (without using scripture please, I know the scripture verses already)

Would love to hear personal experience. And we all know we are subject to being duped by our emotions.

The gifts that are true align with the Word of truth the bible.

The 10 commandments given to mankind as a covenant.

Can you give specific examples of each as in the word?

Can YOU give specific examples of how to differentiate, from the word?

For instance, there are levels, or layers to understanding the scriptures. This is well known and taught before the time of Jesus.

P [Pshat] – literal, simple – BREADTH

R [Remez] – parable, allegory – LENGTH

D [Derasha] – seek, search – DEPTH

S [Sod] – inner, mystical – HEIGHT

Along with that, we are told in proverbs that It is the glory of God to conceal a matter; to search out a matter is the glory of kings.

Let's go back the gift of knowledge:

It Is the Ability to Supernaturally Know Certain Facts
There is another way of understanding of this spiritual gift. The gift of the word of knowledge refers to the ability to know facts about a situation, or a spiritual principle, that could not have been known by natural means. This allows someone to see a situation as God sees it. It is still much needed in the church today. The following observations can be made.

THE GIFT WORKS WITH THE WORD OF WISDOM
There are times when the gift of the word of knowledge works with the gift of the word of wisdom. First, God gives the believer supernatural knowledge into a particular situation, and then He gives wisdom on how to apply that knowledge.

THE SPIRIT OF GOD PROVIDES THE INFORMATION
This word of knowledge is exercised when the Spirit of God provides information to someone about the condition of another person. It does not have to come with fanfare. In fact, it can be exercised without the person being aware of it. The gift must be used with a humble heart.

IT IS NOT AN OCCULTIC GIFT
The word of knowledge is not the same as the occult gifts that some spiritual mediums claim. It is not an occult power, but a God-given ability to build up the body of Christ.

WE ARE NOT TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF IT FOR PERSONAL GAIN
Like all the other gifts of the Spirit, the word of knowledge is never given for a believers’ own personal advantage, to take advantage of another believer, or to embarrass someone. It is to build up the church – the body of Jesus Christ.

IT IS NOT FOR PUBLIC DISPLAY
This gift should only be used in private contexts. There is no place for some public display of this gift in a flamboyant way. If the Holy Spirit is working, then it will be consistent with the way He always works. He will glorify Jesus Christ and Him alone. Indeed, He will never glorify any human being exercising a spiritual gift.

I mean if those freaking out at Sundays church going cannot keep the 10 Commandments in their daily life their ecstasies are fake.

Absolutely but the baseline is common. A starting point for the context of the whole.

I believe it still exists. When I was young, I was reading II Corinthians and felt God wanted me to ask for a gift. I told him that because Paul said Prophecy was to be desired above the others, that I felt I should ask for it, but that what I wanted and needed currently was the ability to understand the Bible's mysteries so that I could translate it accurately for the people group I was working with.

He seemed pleased, and that day I recieved both gifts. They are not skills or acquired talents. They are not "knacks" I was born with. They are the abilities of God, worked through me for the benefit of his people and the glory of his name.

But the 10 commandments were often broken by order of the Bible God, so when someone is told they have been ordered by God to do something and they have no higher moral codes than the bare minimum in the Bible, if they do not accept man’s laws but only the Bible, they can end up on trial or in prison for breaking the law.

It depends on where you are getting your info from. You play with cards and crystals then and do rituals and talk to the dead then your info is coming from demons. If you pray and seek God, He won't steer you wrong although satan and his minions will attack and confuse at times

No one can keep the commandments. Jesus upped that to even your thoughts.

right. And it's so easy to be fooled.

Looking for scripture that speaks of how we know that the gifts we receive are from the holy spirit.

How does one know that what they believe is the gift of discernment KNOW it is of the Holy Spirit.

Test the spirits, yes, i know.

By their fruit you will know them. Yes.

But, can anyone elaborate on how YOU know you have any of the gifts, and hhow you know they are of the Holy Spirit.

Or is anything you don't understand or haven't yet experienced deemed to be divination?

Is spirituality different from sexual licentiousness? Nope

funny excuses you got there. so whose laws are you going to keep, God´s ones or those of corrupt government?

Occult simply means hidden. Nothing evil in that.

occult means group delusions, everything wrong w/ that.

You know because of the conviction in your heart. If you’re ever unsure, you verify with the what the Word of God teaches regarding the subject in question. Reincarnation for example as someone alluded to a couple days ago here claimed it was told to them as true by the Holy Spirit. One can know without a doubt that this person wasn’t hearing from the Holy Spirit because reincarnation isn’t the Word of God and the Holy Spirit leads us to all truth (John 16:13).

That's the beauty of free will, within this duality we exist in.

You can choose to believe this, or you can choose to believe that. And subsequently assign your own perceptions to your reality.

But the word in itself, simply means hidden.

Kinda like, black matter which science can't yet correctly identify or understand.

I agree with the civil laws, that it is wrong to kill, and if God told me to kill, I would know it’s not the real God, just an entity claiming to be God. Someone who believes God really did tell Abraham to sacrifice his child Isaac might have difficulty discerning that a voice saying it is God or an angel of God is not really that, because the Bible doesn’t teach that lesson. Instead it teaches that you should always obey and not question God. How do you truly discern evil when you only follow the Bible.

But yet it is also known that the concept of it was widely understood by the christian community until it was forbidden by the Vatican on pain of being declared an anathema.

I am speaking of the 10, not more as too difficult for you and the 99 percent to comprehend.

No, it's not easy to be fooled just as one can know for certain if they have eternal life, one knows by the Holy Spirit. The reason Jesus accused the Pharisees of committing the unforgivable sin of blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is because they were attributing the workings and miracles He was doing among the people to the demonic rather than the Holy Spirit.


But when the Pharisees heard this, they said, “Only by Beelzebul, the prince of demons, does this man drive out demons.”

Only those who are truly born again and have the seed of God within them as a new creation receive gifts of the Holy Spirit.

For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God.
1 Peter 1:23



The fruits of the Holy Spirit are evident in all born again believers-

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
Galatians 5:22-23



If you're not born again by the Holy Spirit, you're not receiving gifts from the Holy Spirit. Those born of the Holy Spirit know with every fiber of their body they are sealed and that what they receive is from God as far as gifts and discernment.

Fear reveals itself in many way.

Because, what if you realized you've been wrong all this time? What would that do to your reality as you've understood it to be?
