A lot and I mean a lot have left the workforce to become caretakers of their spouses and/or parents because elderly care in general is unaffordable. More are becoming stay at home parents to avoid daycares and public schooling.

Something is definitely up. A few years back I would run employment add for office help and just get hundreds of resumes within a week, this time I had less then a dozen after running on zip recruiter and craigslist, that's not normal so all.

I work in a 4 man dept. In Oct one went out on Cancer Disability, he wont ever work again. Younger kid quit for better paying job...bonus because he was lazy as shit. 3 weeks ago the manager whose been ignoring his blood pressure for a year went out on Kidney Failure. He probably will never work again either....he can ride disability right into social security....If he even recovers. Completely delusional due to the toxins built up over time. So the four man dept is just me.....People with no exp are saying they want 60k to start....The job pays 35 to 40k. Its an easy job, laid back atmosphere, flexible scheduling and it can be fun.
So Im getting 60 hours a week now and all the commission.

The British government are going to attempt to reform sickness benefit (disability welfare) rules in a manner which means basically NOBODY will be sick enough to just be left alone, instead, all people will be required to do varying levels of work-search, part-time work, or preparing or retraining for the jobs they could still do around their medical condition. To some people this is about penny-pinching and Conservative Party ideology.

To me, it's a change to get ahead of a wave of long-term chronic illness and debilitating medical conditions which will force a shift away from dividing people into "the sick" and "the able-to-work" and towards making everyone work for every moment amount of time in which they're not totally physically incapacitated.

Problem is though that at that price point, you are not that much more special than an illegal alien. That is chump change for something specialized and requiring custom skilled labor. A skilled craftsman is worth more than you if you can only afford 750k for a yacht.

My sister runs a local council housing dept. She's advertising for staff. The jobs going are very well paid with great benefits. Normally they'd be snapped up straight away, but she told me she just can't get anyone.

Even many injured are subtle, and could be easily missed.

These folks are still working, but appear to be functioning at ~50% of what would be considered normal.
