Yup, Doctors mostly suck. Only a few good ones around.

Misallocation of blame. It is the hospital system that gets paid, not the doctor. Almost all doctors are basically contractors with privileges at a hospital or network of hospitals. The exceptions are hospitalists and other general practitioners who get paid a salary by the hospital. They get paid the same no matter what, and the doctors that are not employees of the hospital get paid for their specific services. The vast majority of cost of hospitalization gets paid to the hospital itself, not the doctors.

Yes many doctors are sheep, and blindly trust health authorities. If they were hospital employees, they were likely threatened with their job to deviate from any treatment plan sanctioned by the hospital. However, no matter their action, the amount of wages they received did not change no matter what they did. Unless of course they were fired, and many were.
