Although intended as temporary legislation, it "proved, in the long run, the most important turning-point in American immigration policy" |

"In 1979, attorney Robert Hayes, co-founder of the Coalition for the Homeless, sued the city in the New York State Supreme Court, arguing every homeless man had a right to shelter. Expanding that right to women, children and others would not come until later. The lead plaintiff in the class-action lawsuit was Robert Callahan, a homeless man who was suffering from chronic alcoholism. Hayes found Callahan while he was sleeping in Manhattan’s Bowery neighborhood, according to the Coalition for the Homeless’ website. After intense negotiations, the city settled the suit in 1981 with a consent decree, which required the city to provide a sufficient number of beds to meet the needs of every homeless man looking for shelter." Quoting: Coy “Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!” From "The New Colossus" by Emma Lazarus [link to en.wikipedia.org (secure)] She wanted America to welcome vermin like herself with open arms, her persecuted brethren, to transform America into the Diversified Cesspool that we have become. |

I think Abbott needs to change things up, though, and send plane loads to other leftist strongholds. How about Boston and east coast ritzy shore communities - you know like where Biden hangs out? Maryland, Delaware, Rhode Island, etc. Quoting: thinking... There is a HUGE fancy new HUD building right at the edge of Frederick Maryland's downtown. I was kinda dismayed to see it. You just KNOW that city is going to be destroyed by government rental policy and BLM riots. Those nice old historic houses will be gone. The 'walkable city' the left love will be gone. You can just tell the uber wealthy want to wreck that town in order to depress land values and then build condos all along the canal. Of course there are BLM signs everywhere as they have no clue.... |
