One that shat up the cars and trucks, it was a wave that takes decades to really crash into society.

30000 in 2023 = 15000 in 1995. The money is worth half of what is was worth in 1995. And that is being hopeful as it based off of a manipulated cpi calculation. In short, your money is being made worthless, and it will become increasingly difficult to estimate the real value of a thing without considering multiple factors.

Basically, you need triple the money now for everything you once enjoyed.

Quite a bit of rust COCAINE underneath ?
 Quoting: MEGA-MAGA Oaken Paw

This is a drug deal / money laundering scheme from what I imagine.

The coke is probably hidden in the panels and tires.

It is worse than that.

4x from just 2010 for most engine blocks.

A 350 longblock performance from Jegs was $1500 in 2020. It is $6000 now.

SAME ENGINE.

It's clean, customized, low mileage, well maintained and has about 200,000 more miles left in a Cummins diesel. It also doesn't have all the pollution junk in it. Trucks like this will be in very high demand in the coming years because you can run it on used oil, cooking oil, kerosene, transmission fluid, virtually anything with a viscosity higher than gasoline. He'll get that price.

why not put it on craigs list for that amount and see if there is any interest? start bringing down the price every couple of weeks until you get a buyer. Sounds like a good strategy if you're not in a hurry to sell.

I have a 2001 Dodge 3500 4x4 dually flatbed, 5.9 24v with 120k miles. I’ve been offered 20k for it... and I turned it down. My truck isn’t fast, isn’t all that pretty, but it is a beast of a truck. I rarely drive it since I have a company vehicle.

I bought a F350 Deisel in April of,1998 (1999 Model) for, $27,000. I'll sell it for $75,000, it only has 230,000 miles on it and gets 19.8 mpg. I take it back, it's not for sale. It's worth more than a new truck.

They are really good quality, well made vehicles that would cost at least 150k, IF they were at all possible to be made in todays challenging climate control environment, and pollution etc.

In todays market, you can't make vehicles that well anymore until you get into the semi-truck range of products.

If I had alot of money, I would be buying up older vehicles rite now, to collect a fleet of them. They will pay for themselves over the next few decades when they still continue to work and be serviceable, parts-availability considered though, Don't buy something that you can't get parts for, if you do, Make sure its really reliable or buy two of them.

You nailed it. New computer cars will be worthless in less than 10 years. I just bought an 03 Jetta TDI and I'm going through fixing little issues. Even this car is almost too new with too many gadgets to break. With the diesel it is my hope to get 1 million miles from this little car @ 48 MPG.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 80803555

I'm on my third VW Golf TDI and I am skeptical of that MPG claim. If true, you must drive like an old lady and coast down hills. LOL.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 83283176

Guilty on both counts. If people want me to accelerate like a jackrabbit, they can pay my gas bill. Until they, I press that gas pedal like I'm barefoot and its covered in thorns. I got the 5 spd so yes, freewheeling hills and up to stop signs is a must.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 80803555

I call it hyper-miling, I got 55 mpg in a 2000 SAAB 5 speed once rolling through Kentucky.

Re: How is this 30 year old truck worth 30k?
Just saying guys,

I fucking LOVE me a 30 year old truck. You get to apply for Vintage Plates in Canada at the Registry services, which is similar to a trailer registration - its a lifetime, one time cost registration so if you are poor and rack up a bunch of tickets you won't be prevented from renewing your registration and you'll be able to skim by legally.

I own a 1988 Landcruiser that I got for less than $1000 and I wouldn't sell it now for less than $15,000 and it has rust.

I eyeball it every time I goto the back door as if its a new vehicle that I can't take my eyes off of, thats how much I appreciate the fact that it still runs well at this point.

To me this relationship, although I would not stick my thing inside the vehicle like that guy with his red car on that television show, I consider it worth more than the value of the vehicle itself.

So I'd really say 30,000 is a steal of a deal.
