Maybe it was that the astronaut wasn't happy to be asked to prove he went to the moon, by a nutcase saying it was faked with a photo over the window, & wasn't prepared to humor the nut by swearing on the bible.
I would have done the same thing & it would have nothing to do with your ridiculous conclusion that it was "fear of God"
