Answer: It was never meant to be a Christian nation, it was meant to be the Beast's Nation. The founding fathers where all Masons and practiced witchcraft. Most of the founding fathers where Satanist's.

Most of them were Deists and part of the enlightenment philosophical movement. They honored the importance of a creator, but also felt that creator was ultimately unknowable. The only knowledge that could be gained of the creator was by rational and thorough examination of the creation. It is one of the most important movements in history and launched freedom and science in many of the western nations, slowly freeing them from the reins of the kings and the church. Most Christians would consider them heretics though, because they didn't adhere to denominations or dogma. They sure loved freedom though.
