Only critism is I would like more changes. However, if the purpose is a hip hop beat, it works fine as is.

My group's name is SyckSyde .. whom had a huge following in the underground music scene...

Nowadays, Sycksyde is inactive but occasionally we will drop a song or ep... depending on if the surviving members feellike doin something.....

Has anyone used the open sourced Audacity for recording and conversion???

If it's good, I'm thinking of recording my original music on cassette tapes to Wav and MP3...

Instead of us using the computers microphone, was thinking of running direct from cassette deck's stereo headphone jack into a portable 4 channel mixer and then into the computer's microphone jack. Would something like that be possible or would I have mismatched impedance issues...

Also, when recording should I keep the sampling rate at 44.1 Khz or raise it to 192 Khz. I'm thinking that the higher sampling rate would be better for a WAV file. Would the higher sampling rate be better for MP3 or wouldn't make much of a difference???

I can't speak for Audacity, but you can bring in analog audio via the "line in" jack which is stereo (I wouldn't use the microphone jack, although I think these days they may share the jack on some machines). Just look at the "record settings" in Windows, assuming that's what you're using and choose the appropriate settings / levels. You can probably skip the mixer and go right from the rca's on the tape deck to the 1/8" line in if you want to keep it simple.

Yes i have used audacity for recording and conversion. It is good.
Skip the mixer. Go tape to pc. 44.1 is sufficient. Try it. Based on your questions, you dont have the equipment or ear training to notice any significant difference in conversion.
