Quoting: JustmeTX Rip wire off thermostat or jumper it closed, not sure which way the logic works, or maybe find a control panel in there to mess with. Or just jam cardboard against all the areas where the cold emerges from. Might need a screwdriver or a knife or whatever to do. Never leave home without my tried and true Benchmade Osborne Yup, always always always carry at least a decent knife. Self defense is the reason people always think of, but as a tool, it tends to be more valuable. If you are stuck somewhere, at least you have some sort of a tool better than your finger nails to try and effect self rescue. No idea what all the reasons could be, but a knife is a great multi-purpose implement that should always be on your person. If you can carry a simple screw driver and pliers, or a multi-tool, so much the better. You never know what you will be faced with until it bites you in the ass. Justme |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 4784279 United States 05/28/2023 12:53 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | A new lawsuit reveals the heartbreaking details surrounding an Arby’s manager who allegedly froze to death in the walk-in freezer of a Louisiana restaurant. Quoting: HAWK-03 The manager, Nguyet Le—a 63-year-old widow and mother-of-four—died on May 11 after becoming trapped in the long-faulty freezer while opening the restaurant. Her son, Nguyen, who also worked at the restaurant, discovered her body when he arrived later in the morning, according to the court documents. An investigative officer found blood inside the freezer door, leading him to conclude that Le “beat her hands bloody trying to escape or get someone’s attention,” the lawsuit reads. “Ultimately, she collapsed into a fetal position face down on the frozen floor.” [link to www.yahoo.com (secure)] 'I' SUSPECT FOUL//FOWL..PWAY. User ID: 85236209 United States 05/28/2023 01:00 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | That's so sad and needless. Quoting: JustmeTX All freezers built for the last 60 years have an escape feature mandated in the design. You just push on the big steel plunger at the door latch and the door opens from the inside, regardless of anything else on the latch. You hit the big plunger with the palm of your hand and the door opens. I believe it will even open if there is a padlock on the outside of the latch. It stands to reason this would happen to an immigrant, who was likely not aware of the feature or trained on it. I believe the instructions are also written on the darn thing. Bottom line, as Father Malachi Martin was heard to say from the moment of her conception this was her final destiny. Poor lady, that is so sad , BUT her kids will enjoy a huge payday.. Sacrifices?? Any walk in fridge or freezer manufactured in the last 40 years has removable locks from the inside or a lock wheel. One option would be to disable the evaporator fan, the evaporator would quickly freeze over but depending on the amount of frozen product in there, it could remain below freezing for hours. |

The latch release mechanism was fried on the inside part and the door at the other end (which opened into the meat cooler) was blocked from the other side. They would beat on the door and scream their heads off but until someone walked very close to the main freezer door (which was in the very back corner of the store) nobody heard them. Any time I had to go into it I made sure the door was propped open with a metal cart if I was alone. Everyone complained to high heaven but Walmart wouldn't or couldn't fix it for some reason. My friends still working there say it's still like that. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 85819945 United States 05/28/2023 01:17 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | .. No they don’t. Freezers are dangerous & ice accumulation can cause the door to stick. In some after 10 minutes, the lights shut off too. It needs to be in Safety Training for all Companies to include vendors. If there is something to unplug, that’s difficult in the dark. Typically Safety Training speaks of the ridiculous obvious pertaining to ice on sidewalks… Ridiculous! . |
