Why isn’t anybody talking about Thorium Nuclear reactors?
I don’t get it. These are generally safe nuclear reactors that have no possibility of melting down. If the process of heating goes out of spec there is a plug that melts and the nuclear reaction automatically stops.

Scientists say there is no nuclear waste to speak of, as the nuclear material gets recycled and used up. If there is waste, these scientists say it is only 1/1000 the amount of a typical Uranium reactor. This is a game changing solution to our energy needs.

The only reason I am 100% against current nuclear technology is because of 1) the waste disposal which seems all but impossible and 2) the safety factor involved if the external energy supply gets cut off that could cause a nuclear meltdown.

I know why the PTB are in favor of the status quo. Typical Uranium reactors produce a by-product that is used in the manufacture of nuclear weapons. That is most of the reason. They also bring up cost comparisons. But every current nuclear reactor is subsidized by the government as the Goverment is the only one that will provide liability insurance to current uranium reactors. Take that away and there is no more uranium nuclear energy period.

So let’s take away the government (taxpayer) provided insurance and let’s see what happens in the free market.

Nothing will happen at all if we don’t talk about it freely.

There could be a world wide summit where they agree everybody has to use Thorium or nothing at all. The source material for old style uranium reactors is easy to trace and control.

This would help eliminate threat of nuclear war over time. Which is what most people want anyway.

Although there is a second way to process Thorium nuclear into weapons grade material but it is harder and might be easier to control in the long run.

World Peace, safety, and security for all humankind is the goal.

Let’s do this.

Great point thorium is cheap and plentiful as well as far kess dangerous than current methods

Agreed, from what I can see is Thorium is a serious solution.
Which explains why it’s not being used……

What’s the supply like?

Any Thorium gurus out there?

LOL! I agree the tech is what we have needed. I think you might have missed the ongoing global human genocide TPTB/others have dedicated everything they have on. There is no going back. Other than that, cool idea. From the 1940's.

Cuppa TEA?

The Mission of the Thorium Energy Alliance (TEA) Since 2006, has been educating the world on the uses and advantages of Thorium as a Fuel for nuclear power and as a critical material derived from the rare earth metals refining process for free. TEA has made significant progress in reviving research and promoting the many industrial applications of Thorium. We support the training of young women and men in the technologies around the use of Thorium for fuel, medicine, catalysts, alloys, coatings, and superconducting materials. TEA has spent countless hours and resources helping decision makers of the USA understand the opportunities, as well as hundreds of members of the Departments of Energy, NRC, Defense, Commerce and Natural Resources, EPA. We believe a world of equality, prosperity and abundance can be achieved and the wise use of Thorium can be instrumental in achieving that goal for all of humanity.

Re: Why isn’t anybody talking about Thorium Nuclear reactors?
Galen winsor swam in cooling water ponds and ate uranium oxide on camera. His claim was that the toxicity of spent uranium was grossly overstated. His claim was that by overstating the toxicity the government would control disposal of the material as well as control the worlds supply of plutonium, which by his claim, is the most expensive material in the world by several orders of magnitude.
Let’s make it 110.

It would take 10 years Atleast to get them all up and running, and 10 years to shut down the old plutonium reactors.

And the cost would be high, and we're at war so the budget is centered on arms.

If we get some peace then perhaps.

This is partly because thorium in itself is not a nuclear fuel, but it can be used to create one. Thorium-232, the only naturally occurring isotope of thorium, is a fissionable material but not a fissile one, meaning that it needs high-energy neutrons to undergo fission — the splitting of atomic nuclei which releases energy that is used for electricity generation.

Almost all nuclear waste is reusable, nuclear energy is almost free and renewable, the only unsafe reactor issues is causes by human stupidity error (Fukushima) and false flag attack (Chernobyl) to scare people away from free nuclear energy so that it wouldn't overtake oil and the rich. They wouldn't use safer reactors anyway oil companies would blow them up again.to make them unsafe.

We already could have fusion reactors, but TPTB simply don't want them because they fear the cheap and endless energy could lead to a loss of their power.

I beleive the primary problem is that another name for these is a molten salt reactor and the salts mixture is corrosive as all hell to the materials in the reactor. It is not clear that this problem has been overcome.

This is not a problem for a liquid Sodium Floride Thorium reactor. Sodium floride is inert and does not react with metal. China is building the first of it's kind based on our tax payer funded research.

The hurdle to overcome is only red tape, as the fast breader reactors would be seen as obsolete, inefficient, unsafe, and uneconomical compared to liquid floride salt thorium reactors which would put all of the companies out of business.

What's even better about thorium reactors is that they could be used with current waste from the fast breader reactors.

ALL OF IT.

And Thorium is very abundent in soil EVERYWHERE.

On top of it, rare earth minerals would be able to be recovered, including lithium, which would sustain lithium batteries for 100s of years.

Think of it, the only thing standing in the way of complete energy independence and cleanup of nuclear waste is politians and current industry lobbying.

If only we had some Brawndo because thats what nuclear plants need.
