LED lights are dangerous radiation emitters. LED lights are inferior to incandescent lights in all measurable ways. LED lights are not full spectrum, and are like laser lights, as opposed to creating a natural arc of light. LED lights have never been approved for human use by the FDA or the DOE.

Why is LED Light Different?

The sun emits light in all directions in space with essentially the same energies in all directions. A candle has a cylindrical wick, so other than the ends, the light is emitted in all directions with uniform energy. An incandescent light bulb with a tungsten filament emits light similar to light from a candle. A gas-discharge light such as a fluorescent tube or a High-Pressure Sodium streetlight also emits light uniformly in all directions. As the light disperses, it follows an inverse square law, become less and less dense as it propagates into space. What makes the light from LEDs any different from any other type of light?
Flat Surface Source

The sun, candle, incandescent, and gas-discharge are all examples of mathematical point sources of light. The shape of the emitter is curved. To be entirely accurate, these emitters may be cylindrical or curly, but the basic concept is that the emitter is curved. Light Emitting Diodes emit visible radiation from a flat surface, not a curved surface. This means that all the light is emitted in the forward direction. This light, however, is not emitted as just half of a sphere. Because the emitter surface is flat, the light rays, which depart the surface at random angles, overlap each other, and create a directed beam of light. This type of flat surface emitter is entirely new for planet earth and is not something that exists in nature.

Sure the LEDs themselves last forever, but the transformer that converts and steps down the voltage are junk and last no longer than their predecessors. That's why they can legally make the claim that they do and still get away with shit products.

The National Library of Medicine has numerous research articles showing profound adverse
effects from LED light exposure. Unlike older style bulbs, properties inherent to LEDs make this light
source intensely damaging. LEDs emit short-wave, white/blue, directional, non-uniform, hyper-
penetrating light which is biologically disruptive and wholly unfamiliar to natural systems. Humans
and wildlife have few defenses against it.

Medical researchers conduct animal studies because medical ethics largely prohibit using
human test subjects identified as high-risk. (Epilepsy, for example, precludes someone from
participating in experiments involving potential seizure-inducing lights including LEDs). Animal
studies are conducted on species selected for commonalities with human biology. The results and the
resulting human implications are often alarming:

A 2019 experiment with mouse embryos demonstrated how short wave LED light interferes
with the embryonic implantation capacity in mice. The number of embryonic nuclei with
fragmented DNA was significantly higher in embryos treated with white light.
A 2019 study on zebra fish revealed that LED lighting affected morphology, locomotor
activities, mortality and hatching rates, oxidant and anti-oxidant parameters and gene
expressions related with melatonin circulation. The “ blue LED-exposed zebra fish all died
within 72 hours past fertilization.”

A 2018 real world study (as opposed to lab results) found that increased skyglow in cities with
LED street lights impacted yet-to-be-born babies, causing reduced birth weight, shortened
gestation and pre-term birth. Boy babies are more vulnerable than girls.

A 2018 paper entitled “Blue Light and Fruit Flies: A Warning for Humans” (Journal of Aging
and Mechanisms of Disease) describes LED exposure causing reduction in lifespan, retinal
damage, brain degeneration and aging due to stress. The conclusion says that these findings
should lead to “more research on an urgent basis so that potentially harmful lighting may be
averted.”

These references are recent, but the probability that LEDs caused harm to living organisms was
recognized many years ago.

My apartment was built in the 70's and I have light fixtures that are old AF. How well so you suppose those work? They don't. The wiring and fixtures aren't compatible.

I hate the light from LED's and those other swirly looking bulbs.

Screw those that banned incandescents.

So, I'm not a kid. I worked for the worlds most important LED producer for several years. I'm an engineer. Got really deep into LED lighting. Here's my take:

1) LED's are only more power efficient because they emit a much narrower spectrum of light
2) You can add several LED's at different parts of the spectrum together in the same luminary to get a broader spectrum, but then all efficiency goes out the window
3) This is necessary in "grow lights" for green houses for example as plants need a broader spectrum of light
4) Light spectrum is medically critical to human heath. The spectrum of light you "see" directly impacts your circadian rhythm --->which has a profound impact on your health and well being. ( [link to en.wikipedia.org (secure)]
5) Blue light in particular is very harmful to the eye, but lack of proper spectrum is very harmful to circadian rhythm.
6) The best light is natural sun light. Due to atmospheric effects, the visible spectrum of the sun changes from morning till dusk and it is that change in color spectrum that synchronizes and drives the circadian rhythm. The liked wiki article above has over 300 peer reviewed articles backing that up.
7) All artificial light sources disrupt that rhythm.

What can you do? Try to bring as much "natural light" as you can into your workplace and house. Treat all other lighting sources as supplements only.

As always, YMMV, but those are straight up facts.
