That’s almost as insane as playing Russian roulette! In sanity we trust That's because it became over commercialized and people who aren't athletically prepared for the climb buy thier way in. Some people pay up to 500k to go up there with multiple back up sherpas, oxygen tanks, Glam camping set ups, you name it. It's cheating basically. Then their untrained bodies can't take it and they have some accident or collapse. During covid, I drove over the great divide on I-70 to fast and got VERY sick for over a week. Altitude sickness is no joke and some people can't tolerate it, so much so they can't live in places like Denver or high in the mountains, or even drive through the Great divide without consequences. I’ve gone from Dallas to Taos NM and tried to do Wheeler Peak (13,000 asl) on the next day. I almost made it, didn’t get sick. Even had several margaritas the night before. I was 41 or so and didn’t think much about the danger. Then I did the same for several years afterwards. Didn’t work out for me so well. Lots of nausea. Stomach cramps. Gotta drink lots of water. We stopped going a few years ago. In our 70s now so why bother. Still don’t see the fun in climbing that high in snow. I mean, it’s just snow. No wildlife and streams. That’s enjoyable. Tip toe through the tulips MEN have outbursts I have never seen in my life. Stop generalizing!! Many men not being able to control their lower regions is far more annoying! I won’t generalize that it’s ALL men, but it made me very glad to be a woman. When I went through my teens & decades thereafter, so many men would whistle, hoot, Hillary, stop traffic & much more ongoing! No woman minds a compliment, but there are plenty of crude & vulgar perverts with no class! I was NEVER a woman to dress inviting the response either. Today I see women that want that & dress like prostitutes… Can’t imagine! Of course my wedding ring over the decades did not deter any of them either. I can’t relate to such a lack of control. Most of them are addicted to pornography (my guess). So, many of you you men have some serious issues & without any moral compass many of you are promiscuous sex addicts!! So… Stop bashing women! . . |

I had no desire to go further as losing your life for an e-peen challenge is ridiculous. Even the indigenous guides suggest to just look as the mountain is sacred and should be left as it is. Looking at the mountain is sural in real life and really lets you know how insignificant you really are in the grand scheme of things. I am far from rich as well. The most expensive part are the flights. And like many people have previously mentioned its amazing how many rich folks keep on going to the summit for no other reason than to prove how deep their pockets are. No thanks, I'll stay poor and alive. GLP - "The greatest show on earth." |

They got hit by a winter storm that lasted for 3 weeks, and they only had provisions for 2 weeks. They didn't find their tent until the Spring thaw. Another one of my cousins had to be carried down Mount Kilimanjaro for altitude sickness. I think she was in her 60s at the time. I personally don't bother with the tops of mountains.
