Talk to me when it's a 112 now that's real heat. Especially with humidity it makes a sauna seem like cool pond.

We expect triple digits here in Guadalupe Co. TX all week. I don't mind the heat so much, but what sucks is that the scorpions try to get in when it gets hot like this. I saw one just a few minutes ago that was at least 5" long. They are usually 2 or 3 inches.
 Quoting: texasdeerslayer

Last night and tonight massive lightning strikes and storms. Weather alerts said expected three inch to baseball size hail. Very strange weather pattern. It’s like bursts, or pockets of storms appear all of a sudden —- out of nowhere.

I remember long ago cold fronts from the north would gradually come down and meet with the warm air causing moisture to fall, but these days anything goes.
 Quoting: Light Bulb

Yes, and it’s weird that Texans have no interest in the weather modification companies in their own state. I lived in SF for years and then moved back to Texas.

Texas has its own self censorship and Stockholm syndrome issues.

Topics that are generally off topic and not socially allowed should be scrutinized deeply.

Nice and cool in Lubbock right now ... not after today though
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 85148071

It's looking, for today anyway, like central and NE Texas is in for turbulent weather (high winds, hail, twisters and lower temps) while parts of the south are drenched in humidity and heat.

If we get baseball size hail, that means a new roof. Will be adding some $$ to the insurance payout, and installing a Tesla roof. Enough of constantly increasing electrical rates. Will be nice to generate our own, and maybe even sell some back into the grid.

Texas roasting is par for the course. When I was a kid there were a few times that on Christmas day the temp was in the mid 80s and we played outside in shorts and barefoot, same for my own kids and grandkids.

I can take hot, but I can't stand humidity.

100 degrees with high humidity is a living hell, because you can never dry off the sweat, and your cloths all stick to you.

In Oregon I'm still comfortable with 100 degrees, because it's dry heat, and my cloths don't stick to me.

I had a place on the Yucatan, and I went there in September once, and I had to practically live in the ocean to survive.

There was a “Weather Modification” tab on the Texas Government website just a few years ago & it’s probably still there. If I recall correctly, there was also vehicle registration information in the general location.

Welcome to Texas, especially in a strong El Nino year. The first year we lived down there, the actual temp was over 115 for weeks and the storms were huge.

Thanks for the Tesla roof idea. I will look into those glass roofs more; they seem to stand up to a little more than an inch hail with their 25-year warranty.

Above link is to personal testimony how the Tesla tiles stood up to baseball size hail in Wichita Falls, Texas.

Maybe so, but I don't live down there anymore. We had to move back to Ohio to take care of parents. It's only 63 today. Good for the light bill, but chilly for me! LOL

It's El Nino on steroids this year. Just stay weather aware.

Maybe your a BOT, because your intelligence definitely comes across as artificial.

... But ONE.... Nobody said it wasn't just south Texas weather.

...and TWO... Summer doesn't start until June 21st, so NO... It's not just summer.

You retard.

Jeez, I miss the old GLP when it was a cohesive community of Luke minded people. Before trolls came on the scene with their stupid threads about the Kardashians, or the fedbois with their threads about "what preps do YOU have for SHTF?".

... Or idiots like this above poster who just seems to want to disagree with everyone. Regardless of the topic. Please, PLEASE Trinity... Buy back GLP from the Government, and fire all the ex Twitter MODS working here now.

The worst, drenching (literally) sweat of a lifetime was in Dallas, Texas. I literally had no concept of what “Worse with humidity” entailed. Wow!! Then toss in random tornados springing up here & there, salted with hail baseballs!! “What in the World!” Weather watching & Storm Apps are a PT job to stay alive!!

I had no idea people regularly endured such torment!! If your job is to drive all over the State of Texas?? No thanks!! Great people & prices were low at the time. BUT… Quality of life diminished greatly!!

Nobody should live without a basement as severe weather continues to escalate!
