I thought, o.k., this is not my regular shopping day maybe they are restocking. Well, this week I went on my regular day and the same thing...many shelves were empty. Usually in this large store they are running over. Anyone else seeing this? Quoting: Sandpiper 429853oh yea.... go buy yourself some freeze dried food..... Anonymous Coward User ID: 154922 Australia 05/08/2008 09:24 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Dude, I remember in 2002 for about 6 weeks I could not buy my daughter's nappies for love nor money. I would ask the droids who worked there and they would always tell me the "oh we've got them on order - they'll be here later this week" line. 6 weeks? Anyway, in that time I drove (a looooong way) to another town to get them. A while later they had them and pretended they always had them. And this just with nappies? Seriously mate, supermarkets just run out of stuff sometimes. Just because it may be rice (once you've all panic-bought) does not mean it's time to duck and cover. |

I do a "big shop" once a month for most of our groceries and after I got through there were a few empty spots. There are only 3 in my family, so it isn't like I am feeding an army. The Orignal. Poor people do poor people things, and rich people do rich people things. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is the beginning of the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it! when you rob Paul to give to Peter ... ... ... you will always get Peters support! :Brieffromnativea: |

There are absolutely NO PROBLEMS with groceries here. The only odd thing is that at Sams, you are limited to 200 lbs of rice per person per visit. But there is an ample supplies with no shortages of it, though the price is up 10 cents/lb. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 426392 United States 05/08/2008 04:59 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I shop at a military grocery store called a commissary. A lot of stuff gone and signs up saying people are limited to no more than 20 lbs. of rice. I thought that was so bizarre, as I didn't think the U.S. was undergoing a rice shortage (not exactly a huge staple here). Does make one wonder. Going to a different, civilian store tonight. Will see what their shelves are like. |
