Brokeback Mountain to be an Opera

Time to hit those high notes, boys.

"The controversial multi-Oscar award winning drama, "Brokeback Mountain," about two homosexual cowboys soon will be turned into an opera by a famous American composer.

The New York City Opera commissioned Charles Wuorinen, an America composer, to write the score.

Gerard Mortier, spokesman for the opera house, confirmed in a statement that Wuorinen had accepted the invitation to compose the opera based on Annie Proulx's story. The opera is scheduled to premiere during City Opera's 2013 spring season."
