Quoting: Anonymous Coward 86005347 Where do you think leather products come from? Hides are sold to leather goods manufacturers, and most of them are not here in the US. https://x.com/_/status/1773019557705183375 Looks like deer hides to me. Cow would be thicker and not bend so easily. 2nd guess would be calf skin. Last Edited by JustmeTX on 03/27/2024 06:25 PM Justme |

Thought it was odd for the first thing to wash up was animal hides. They should inspect/open all the containers on the ship to see what other goodies were on their way overseas. Next stop was Colombo, Sri Lanka. Sri Lankans probably won't appreciate cow skin. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 32690515 Vote #3 here. I salyed and stacked deer pelts on pallets on year as a side gig for the guy that would do my deer processing when I was too lazy to do it myself. It is an extremely nasty and smelly job. It's been almost 20 years since then and I can STILL recall the stinch. "Tempus Fugit" |

They don't smell pretty even when they're first loaded. But after curing in salt for a while, the smell MIGHT abate a bit. "Tempus Fugit" |

Poaching of our wildlife and natural resources, one more thing for which you can thank Biden and his invaders. I didn't see the video, don't know what kind of hides those are, but I think someone ought to look into the poaching angle with the illegal invaders. I'd bet money this is happening. As for looking through the rest of the containers, probably not a bad idea. The nation is being poached and looted, spoils probably going overseas, before they really begin the onslaught. |
