Janet Yellen walks back Biden’s comments US taxpayers on hook for Baltimore bridge collapse
U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen on Wednesday appeared to walk back comments from President Joe Biden that U.S. taxpayers would foot the bill for the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse.

Appearing on MSNBC Wednesday, Yellen said money from the bipartisan infrastructure law could "potentially be helpful."

"My expectation would be that ultimately there will be insurance payments, in part, to cover this. But we don’t want to allow worrying about where the financing will come from to hold up reconstruction," Yellen said.

Re: Janet Yellen walks back Biden’s comments US taxpayers on hook for Baltimore bridge collapse
* i was listening to a news segment about the mishap, and apparently the bridge needs to be removed from off of the ship, before the ship which is now resting on the bottom, can be re-floated, and moved away. Of course, the fuel and cargo needs to be removed before the ship can be re-floated as the Dali weighs empty as much as the washington monument

* to replace the Key bridge, maybe the fallen sections can be fabricated elsewhere, and brought to the site by barge, and raised up into position, to repair the bridge in less than 4 years, after reconstructing the foundations

* the other option might be to construct a much larger bridge that would eliminate much of the infrastructure of the old bridge, but the most economic but not cost-effective option would be to replace only what's been damaged, with steel coming from china, and assembled in india

* overall, think of how many new jobs will need to be created as a result of this terrible tragedy
