This is complete nonsense.’ ‘We have no aggressive intentions toward t I saved this post from another thread a while ago: It's simple. Ukraine was not honoring the Minsk agreements, and Zelensky personally asked NATO to supply Ukraine with nuclear weapons, a request which was in reality the final straw. What did anybody really think was going to happen? Russia offered a Ukraine a general peace agreement in which they would return all lands back to Ukraine except Crimea in exchange for Ukraine's demilitarization and a treaty to remain independent from NATO. Ukraine refused. Eastern Ukraine is ethnic Russian and many of the residents there have dual citizens and close ties to Russia. In fact, 85 percent of the population of Ukraine speaks Russian. There was never any chance that Russia would not move to protect ethnic Russians in Eastern Ukraine from an Ukrainian ethno-state that has banned the Russian language, was murdering Russians, and had moved to ban all pro-Russian political parties, even going so far as to imprison and murder pro-Russian political leaders. Russia called up 300,000 reserves with the requirement being that these conscripts have prior military experience. In other words, this isn't even a general mobilization, and Russia has an available pool of 25 million citizens who have prior military service. This is a fraction of their mobilization capability, and he is right in the sense that Russia is one giant military depot. They have been stockpiling weapons for 80 years and likely have billions of serviceable artillery shells and missiles. In that context, his statement that Russia would need nukes is confusing. Russian does in fact have an endless supply of manpower and weapons according to his own analysis. Russia doesn't need nukes to win. Ukraine/U.S./NATO does, however. |

I wonder how long before we say liar, liar, pants on fire... Edited to add that he'll likely use Belarus or some other proxies and then come to their aid militarily. Pretty sure you are right, he said he would never invade Ukraine, and then immediately invaded Ukraine. Putin also said Russia has no plans to invade: Chechnya Ok. But not Georgia Ok but not Ukraine. Ok, Just Crimea Ok, just Crimea & part of Donetsk Ok, Just Crimea & all of Donetsk Ok, Just Crimea & all of Donetsk, Kherson, Luhansk & Zaporizhzhia Ok, all of Ukraine But not NATO… Certainly a man of his word when it comes to promising not to attack other countries. https://x.com/_/status/1773438167971922375 |
