actors contract expired midnight, may stay out, actors want control of product placement

Hollywood could drop off the map tomorrow, wouldn't bother me in the slightest.

why not just stop paying the top actors 14mil a picture and make a cap of 5mill or 4 mill

I thought product placement was the use of products in media to promote a particular company. Such as, when you see an actress holding a diet-coke with the label in full view. Coca Cola has to pay advertising dollars for such things.

How do they want to control it?

Also, "Actors, go out and get a real job. You shouldn't get unemployment and a full pension for 3 one-liners a year". I kid you not. When I lived in L.A., I knew chicks that would do 2 commercials a year and collect unemployment the rest of the time. This is why California/L.A. is banmkrupt. California is full of leeches that milk the system......and now they want weed too. Like it's really going to help.

well, i am sure that the steady actors would
love to get into another income stream.
let's say you're a regular supporting actor.
you have no say over what products get endorsed,
cause the studio gets the dough.
well why not the actor?
if i want to promote ibc root beer, then
i should get the ad money, not the studio.

but it could get crazy.
if you had a deal with Martha Stewart,
she has tableware, drapes, flower arrangements,
the list is endless.
you could actually subcontract the set designs
out to Martha.

They get enough money and most of the are untalented, useless, whining creatures. Media is the next industry to get downsized, and it's about freakin' time. They are employees and nothing more, they don't make the ad deals, or market the media, or write the script.....they don't deserve what they get now.
