I found the novel wich this movie is based on a dreadfully boring read. I should have suspected that being an Oprah book club recommendation. haha

It's basically just about a father and his son and their relationship as they make there way south to escape the coming winter. I was hoping for a lot of mad max insanity and brutal surival fights but those were few and far between and usually very brief. Hell they only had a hand gun with 1 or 2 bullets. Yawnnnnn.

Hopefully the movie can spice the books action up a bit because I love a good post apocalyptic story.

Maybe you didnt read the same book I did. I got the book as a gift, and nearly threw it in the garbage, as I saw on the cover that it was an "Oprah Book Club" book.

I started reading it. It has a strange style.

You never really find out what caused the end of the world as we know it, but it does have some horrifying scenes. Like the part where he goes into that basement and finds those people.

And yes, the revolver he had only had two bullets in it, which we slowly learn is to kill himself and his young son, when it comes to it.

I'll watch the movie, but I have no doubt they will fuk it up, just as they did the movie "I Am Legend". I read that book, and it had almost nothing to do with the movie they made it into. The "Omega Man" was much closer to the book.

It did have a strange style. I will give it that. Sure that scene where he finds the people in the basement was kinda creepy but that lasts a whole half page and he just runs away and you never really find out anymore about them. I would have liked to see some more character interaction but i guess the novel was just trying to keep the focus on the father and son.

I think what really killed me was the boring dialogue between the father and son. I guess it would probably be realisitic but often it was so simplistic and boring.
