Anonymous Coward User ID: 362124 United States 08/29/2008 09:09 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | That speech was just more non-specific hype. Quoting: Apocalypse Troll[link to www.breitbart.com] He wants to do all these Marxist things yet lower taxes on 95% of Americans. Talk about a basic lack of understanding of economics. He will not tell us HOW he is going to do anything. How can you people be so blind? When he raises corporate taxes and raises all our personal taxes by eliminating the Bush tax cuts that affect almost EVERYONE here, effectively raising taxes everywhere, capital is going to flee this county, lowering tax revenues. Higher taxes on businesses will choke the economy. Socialism is the perfect path to dystopia... I am NOT my brother's keeper. So you are quoting from a source that cant even get the length of the speech right " initiative in a 35-minute speech" The speech was 42 minutes..I hardly think most here are in the 250k plus income range. As for taxes choking the businesses I would say that the last few year of bush have done plenty of that save for the very very top few corporations. See without customers they have no business. I think the speech was 35 minutes without all the obsequious applause. Once again with the selective perception. Obama neglects to mention that he will allow he Bush tax cuts to expire in what, 2 years?: [link to www.whitehouse.gov] I can't WAIT to get penalized to be taxed again because I am married! Why not get divorced and file separately? I'll pay less taxes? Oh, yeah, because my marriage has nothing to do with taxes or the government, it was a sacrament and a covenant before God, something you probably have no clue about. You both do not understand the income tax. There are plans to actually do away with this tax in the next few years. Even FEDRES states it is outdated. Obama CAN lower 95% of workers INCOME taxes and STILL do the things he wants to do. Personal income taxes are a very small part of the tax code. Corporate and ad valorem taxes will more than make up for the paltry income taxes. You are just imagining that he would raise income taxes. I will tell you something. People of color will not be afraid to chase his rear end down if they found out another man of color that they put their hope in lied to them. You can bet on that. But just taking his word for it, you can have the cake and eat the ice cream. You just have to know what taxes fund what programs before going off into the deep end. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 491510 United States 08/29/2008 09:17 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It appears to me that people are fascinated with Obama for reasons I really can't understand. The man has no experience.. in much of anything and as listed earlier his ties with known terrorists the church he attended for 20 yrs but never heard any of the criticism rev wright yelled. lets not forget how he will have "unconditional" dialogs with people that have sworn to destroy the western nations. not only do I feel this man will bring forth a new wave in socialism to the US but I also feel it will bring a complete to the American way of life. I'm remembering his speak about him being embarrassed about not speaking multiple languages.. he needs to get a clue .. we are NOT in the EU.. EU compared to the US .. the other countries are as close as each state is here.. so yes if they cross the border into France. The French speak French.. If I drive Montana to Idaho.. yes Idahoan's speak english.. strange how that works... lets not forget how Michelle is just now proud of the US.. I wonder if she could have gotten the education and the ability to say how disappointed she has been with her country if she lived in Cuba? Russia? many EU / South American countries... perhaps she should spend some time there??? Now the bigger picture.. There is a potential war brewing with Russia. I guess that would be a good reason to learn a new language.. Russian. Now don't get me wrong.. I don't care for either.. but stepping back and listening .. Obama clearly doesn't have what it takes.. I personally see disaster in the making. my observations has been listening to alot of talk but no substance.. nothing I have heard him say has had any thing to back it up or to validate to me that he is trying to communicate.. e.g. he talks change.. what is he going to change? how? Paris Hilton's economic plan was better. ok I'm done now... let the flaming begin as I know it will for to criticize Obama is almost sacrilegious. |

We ARE witnessing history, and as I said earlier, I am proud of how far we have come in our country. This made me suspect that this will be one of the most scrutinized votes we will ever see in our lifetime. The process will and MUST have the oversight of independent organizations such as the one Jimmy Carter was involved with in order to insure the vote. I don't trust that November's vote will be accurate at all. Hi Polly:) Thank you for this thread. Quoting: Lady WolfYou know....I've been with glp now for many years, and while I may agree with many of the so-called conspiracy theories talked about on this site. Not necessarily believe that they are real, but believe enough to look into them and question everything that goes on in this country and this world. GLP, has caused me to open my eyes, put away my selfish indifference, and be aware of the hidden agendas of the elite and those in power and control of this world. With that said...I'm only on page one of this thread, but I'm sitting her shaking my head at the underlying distrust and disdain for this election in the posts that have been posted so far... I'm not saying that I'm "Obamafied" to the point where I'm not questioning this man's very fast rise to the most powerful office in the world. This very fact alone, causes me to stop and really question all that is happening in the political arena of the most powerful country in the world. But I have to ask...HOW CAN ANYONE who watched this speech tonight not be moved in some way????? How can ANYONE not sense the historical moment that happened before our very eyes today?????? PEOPLE WAKE UP!!!! Something VERY important is happening right now, good or bad, that is not the point. The point is, that you have had the opportunity to witness something happening in history tonight that your grand children and great grand children will be reading about in their history books! You have taken part, just by being here in a VERY historical moment. A moment that 45 years ago was but a mere dream in the eyes of a man whom many considered to be a great leader also for change. You are witnessing this country on the very cusp of change, a change that for better or for worse will be HUGE! How can you not feel it, sense in in your very bones?????! To the poster who says "who gives a fuck" I say to you...I DO AND SO SHOULD YOU, IF NOT FOR YOUR SELF, FOR YOUR FUTURE OFFSPRING!!! for CHANGE! for a historical day in the history of this country and subsequently...THE WORLD! for an uncertain but sure to be exciting future, and for who I am absolutely certain after seeing this man speak tonight, will be the next president of this Country!!! Mark my words...he will win this contest hands down! We are about to enter a whole new erra in this country and after November...nothing will EVER be the same! |

Mango Positive User ID: 255302 United States 08/29/2008 09:32 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The Republican party has been fairly brilliant. They have somehow convinced a large portion of southern / mid-western people to vote against their own economic self interests based on fantasy principles they've convinced you to hold. I assure you that they are laughing at you. It is precisely Obama's LACK of experience that makes him appealing. The "experienced" politicians have fucked things up pretty bad. They've had their shot. No, I don't necessarily think that Obama is going to be some kind of economic savior, but I do know that he's much better than the alternative. |

Vote for Obama or Vote for McCain it will make NO difference, all you will get from either party is NO CHANGE.. literally. Now I know it's all talk and empty promises to get the vote and then big bussiness and whoever it is pulling the strings will take it from there. The only candidate running that gave me hope was Ron Paul. He represented real change but of course was silenced by TPTB and ignored by the sheep. If you want to be inspired listen to Ron Paul. That man can bring tears to my eyes and now I mourn for this country. I think this election was the last chance we had to get it right and we failed. Kiss what was left of America goodbye. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 437959I guess we'll get what we deserve . O'bama or McCain means death to America in my opinion. I pray I'm wrong. Bumping this comment...for it mirrors my own thoughts. Ron Paul exuded so much truth from his words -that is what brought hope and tears to me. He who controls the past controls the future, and he who controls the present controls the past. -1984 |

Was the sentiment of Ron Paul from DAY ONE. If Obama could actually deliver upon every promise he made at the podium last night -without creating a socialist United States, I would feel he is the Best of Two Evils. Also, How do our "youth" get an education by serving the state. He mentioned that there would be two ways, one would be through military service w/GI Bill. What is the Other option???????? Yet when he spoke everything WAS about HIM. He promised to do everything under the sun. He said I WILL so many times - solve global warming, solve the oil crisis, hire teachers, reform education, bring world peace - etc,, Obama promised that HE will do it all - everything but wipe our ass, and he would probably promise that too if he thought it would get him votes. This man is delusional beyond belief. This is complete Socialism. Total and massive government control. I pointed this out earlier, but I will say it again. He promised to get guns out of the hands of criminals without infringing on second amendment rights. GUN CONTROL = SOCIALISM. Only the criminals will have guns! We will be left defenseless and completely dependent on an Obama government. |
