Anonymous Coward User ID: 422855 United Kingdom 09/12/2008 01:59 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Cantore is saying that 30,000 people have stayed on Galveston Island. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 422855Jim Cantore says FIFTY PERCENT of the people stayed. Did not leave the Galveston area. I have a feeling we are about to see a major disaster across that whole area. The water height can't be escaped - swimmer or not. Dr Lyons saying waves are around 15' now and will double as the storm moves closer. That is just the waves...not the surge! If they stay and the storm makes it to a 3 and wipes out the town, then I'm not really going to feel very bad for them if they die. It's hard to do when their stupidity was the cause. I can't argue with you on that point. I bet the NWO is quite pleased knowing at least 30,000 "useless eaters" will be killed in one fell swoop. Masters said a bunch of are walking around in flip-flops on Galveston beach! Also sayingt the are on cell phones waving to the camera. |

It's a low-lying barrier island and the seawall does no stretch the length of the island where the majority of the newer homes and condos have been built. The seawll may have been protection from some hurricanes, but it is not formidable. One huge surge could take it down easily and submerge the entire island. Hopefully the people on Bolivar Penninsula (across from Galveston and below sea level) had the good sense to leave. I'm confused about the lack of mandatory evacs for those in other low lying areas on the coast since the storm is so huge and the exact point of landfall could still change. I love Galveston and have many happy memories of the town, but I feel a sense of terrible dread about this hurricane. I have a feeling it might strengthen even more before it makes landfall. Those damn fools who stayed.....they either have death wish or are too proud and/or stupid to know that nature can defeat man anytime. |

If these people want to stay in a storm it is their choice. It may be a stupid choice but it's theirs. At some point you have to draw a line. This is about the same as choosing to wear a seatbelt or a motorcycle helmet. don't be cautious and suffer the consequences. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 317795Because WE have to pay for those bodybags with OUR taxpayer money! Of course, they may just wash out to sea... SHARKBAIT!!!! |

We'll have to watch the survivors on tv whining for handouts and listening to their miseries, and see their weeping dead relatives looking for the dumbasses. Freedom with responsibility is don't impinge. They'll all be impinging. Even on the poor folks who find their half rotted bodies washing in from the ocean. And pity the poor children whose parents were too stupid to get the hell out of dodge! Yep, they can do what they want as long as they don't impinge. |
