Thanks! I am headed to NorthernTools to get a gas pump. I'm hauling my own fuel and need a way to get it into the gas tank.

That's what the hicks get for even allowing BUSH to become governor of their state.

No sympathy for Texas. Bush should put the whole state in FEMA camps.

Don't know how to get it into your gas tank.
We siphoned in to a regular gas can.

Hard way...

Maybe someone else?

You need antibiotics, like Cipro, get a tetanus booster, because there was a level 4 bio-warfare lab in the neighborhood. More poor planning by the dufuses that occupy the WH and infest congress,or was it really poor planning considering their insidious desire to murder us all?

Another thought...

Do NOT let officials or neighbors know you have gas.

They "could/may" very persuasively ask for what you have

How do you know there are thousands gone? I imagined there might be, but how do you know?

Is it because the whole island is basically flattened? Where are the bodies? (so sorry to be so graphic)

I am still very worried.

Get some air filter masks to wear while cleaning out homes. The insulation will be torn loose from the ceilings and walls and the fibers will be everywhere. If you get that stuff in your lungs it is really bad for you.

washed into the ocean.

So, it will be like Gulfport/Biloxi we won't ever know how many thousands died because so many were taken out into the water.

What I read yesterday was that up to 140,000 people did not evacuate. They have rescued about 950 to 2000 today (depending on what source you listen too)

So...how many does that leave?

They won't say numbers anymore, just a lot of grim faces on the news.

Large sheets of plastic to cover furniture and belongings in case of roof leak or part of roof missing.

Dolly to move furniture from one room to another, if you're going to be alone.

Buy boxes cheap from U-haul (where you are now, locally). they are flat, transport easily. Bring tape dispener gun. Can pack up and bring home things that mom cherishes most.

Cheap baby wipes ...for washing off and cleaning hands and face.

Military will be giving away tarps in addition to water, ice, and mre's, but long lines.

I am prepared to "camp out" for about a solid week completely off the grid. Even have a bucket with a toilet seat attached!
 Quoting: Cunning_linguist

What's your plan?

Any idea of the damage to the property you are going to?
Are you sneaking past the roadblocks? You'll need a boat or SCUBA/snorkel & fins, etc for that. Expect lots of flotsam still.
Are you packing heat? You should be, but be careful as you can assume that they are under martial law on the island.
Bringing a tent or something in case the roof is gone?
In addition to a tetanus booster, emergency workers are advised to get hepatitis shots due to the nasty water and contamination, etc.
What kind of food are you taking?
Taking a weeks' worth of water, or will you purify some there? Are you going to boil local water or purify it some other way?

If you can bring any document that suggests you are a resident, you should be able to avoid the "looter" roundups.
Got TP?
Take a camera & take tons of pics of the damage. Take lots of pics of anything you see that might not be lawful, from anyone...

Get a feel for and pics of the 'Gestapo level' from any questionable law enforcement officials. Many will be nice & helpful, some might be wearing jackboots. Make a note of who's from where and with which organizations.
Be mindful of any military presence on the island. Which units? If wearing berets, which colors? Unit patches, etc.
Keep an eye out for and take pics of any Blackwater security forces.
Take pics of any unusual military or paramilitary aircraft, ground vehicles or other equipment.

Post the pics when you get back hf

Good luck.

I feel sorry for them. But they should have left when they told them to. It was only a category 2 when it hit land. I realize the Island was a little more susceptible to damage then the rest of the city.

The Mayor of Galveston told them NOT TO LEAVE.

I have my elderly in-laws here with me now. They live in Galveston (23rd and Ave N). And the information that they are getting from friends and neighbors does not reflect what is being portrayed in the media.
I actually spent the day preparing to go to Galveston and secure what is left of their property. So as soon as they let ppl back on the island, I will be there.

People not there will not see what's actually happening.

Do you have a few first aid supplies for yourself...nothing major, but a few bandaids, peroxide, antibiotic ointment...a lot of trash everywhere ...just in case of cuts or abrasions.

Here's an excellent link on survival info.Im wondering with a curfew now being in place, and i've just seen on Fox Fema running outta water and ice at one distribution point, maybe its me,but im wondering if we're about to see a maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaajor blow up.

By blow up i mean this:

Just saw a 1/2 or 3/4 mile long line for groceries,w/police moderating access to store.

We know that nerves fray when the normalcies of life cease, and some nerves quicker and more radical to others.

Lack of Gas availability,electricity,potable water,etc,etc.

Get my drift? Plus, whats "REAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLY" up with the lack of cognate cohesive coverage about whats gone down in Galveston Island and Galveston proper?

I dunno, looks to me like the ingredients for some real @$%^&!!,if you get my drift.

Here's the linky
