Found this video of a woman and her dog being rescued from Crystal Beach.

[link to utube.smashits.com]

Watch how high up the helicopter remains during the rescue.
Now think back... remember Katrina?
The helicopters were almost on top of the homes.
They were much closer.

Why is this helicopter staying up so high from the survivor???
Also, no footage what so ever of the survivor.
For Katrina they showed you the survivors.

Anyone else find this strange?

I was looking at the huge building from where this woman was rescued and it got me to thinking about the Bio. reseach lab in Galveston. This is some of what I found on their site.

[link to www.utmb.edu]

Emergency Page to their employees states the following:
Researchers

Only those personnel who have been asked to ice down freezers will be allowed in. CLARIFICATION ON EARLIER POST: We have restored emergency power to MRB, Building 17, BSB, GNL, Shope Lab, Old Shrine and Surgical Research Annex. Departments that have research labs with research freezers in any OTHER buildings need to send their E1 early-return staff to campus today to replenish dry ice.

Has anyone else gotten wind that CNN was told to leave the area? This supposedly took place on the 13th which would explain the CNN blackout on the 14th.

It's almost like America has deliberate blackouts of information coming in, or going out, just like Israel.

When there is a catastrophy, like the 55 murdered Palestinians in the Jenin Refugee Camp, all media and reporters were not allowed in.

Looks like America is in lock-step with Israel when TSHTF.

Well, until someone comes on this site or goes on CNN and
releases pictures of the dead (many dead) I will not believe
that scores died. If they turned CNN away, then CNN would be reporting this. I'm not buying it.

What puzzles me is, how can they warn civilians of "certain death" if they stayed and weathered the storm...

So they were warned. Why the blackouts?

Listen, the U.S. is no different than any other country in the world. Those of you who think this is the greatest country and morally superior to all others, you're dumb. And those of you who hate the U.S. and think it's the most evil country on earth, you're dumb.

It's just as bad and just as good as any other place. Government censorship and propaganda here are no different than everywhere else. In other words, all that stuff in the constitution is make-believe.

Realize, have you gone back to that blog and asked the poster to send you the pics?

Might be worthwhile.

What did the Galveston residents write that we are not reading?

I don't know - maybe something like this:

Posted: Mon Sep 15, 2008 5:50 pm Post subject: national spotlight

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My friend got off the island with pictures today and they are sick. Bodies everywhere! The numbers on the island are 4000+. Where is the national media....where is the outcry. By this time in Katrina there were telethons...and here nothing. The pictures have been sent to Nytimes, cnn, etc and nobody has posted about them. Mark my words tomorrow there will be headlines, and if not in the papers than in the blogs because this is a higher death count than Katrina and 9/11 combined. This is sick...and it is true. On the island they are telling them not to talk so as to give them time to notfy the families..but a national spotlight is needed. This is bigger then the DOWJones and wall street. This is huge.

Media censorship is intolerable in The United States of America and sadly with only five companies owning every TV News company we must find a way to reform the press.

You're welcome.

ABC 13 in Houston has secretly gotten onto Bolivar. They aren't allowed there but the guy said a few of them were sworn in to the fire or police department today and they snuck them on to the peninsula. Otherwise the Feds aren't allowing the media in there.

Re: Galveston's Mayor ORDERED all city employees NOT to TALK to news reporters! MEDIA BLACKOUT! What are they hiding???
Nobody is there. No troops, no rescuers, no residents for miles. A judge signed an ORDER for all residents to leave the island, so I'm guessing that means those who still wanted to stay are being forcibly removed, although I don't know that for sure.

But there were a few game wardens roaming around, that was about it. The one guy, you could tell he let it slip out because he cut himself off at the last second, but he said the fire chief swore them in as volunteers today so they could get snuck onto the island. Otherwise no other media are allowed to be there.

They did one on the ground report from Gilchrist. There was literally nothing left, not even debris. If you were to walk down there and didn't know there had been hundreds of homes there a few days ago, you'd think it's always been uninhabited beach.

When someone said a couple of days ago that Gilchrist is "gone", they meant it. It's wiped off the map completely.

Also on Galveston, the mosquitos have taken over. One man in critical condition with hundreds or even thousands of mosquito bites. Snakes and alligators everywhere too.

I saw a few photos of Crystal island (on Yahoo) and it was wiped clean, they showed one house standing and nothing else, not even legs of a home. wiped clean off the flat sand. well sand bar is all it is so is bolovier and south galveston... all sand bars with vacation homes...

If there are alot of bodies they have to collect and ID all of them, or not.

One thing for sure is we lost our freedom of speach from 2001 on... 100% gone. Now they just boss us all around. Maybe some wanted to die in the storm?? Government does not have the right to belittle, boss or order us around. If they do.. we lost all of our freedom as well.

People living there know that hurricans are nasty. People in houston also know that it floods like crazy there. Even with a moderate rain, all the roads on the ground level become the drainage pipe that they never planned for! I lived there and the meduims in the middle of the roads become the roads.

Please keep a perspective on this, It was no where nears as bad as Katrina!!

Health conditions on island are deteriorating

By Leigh Jones and Heber Taylor
The Daily News
Published September 15, 2008

GALVESTON — Search and rescue missions are continuing early Monday, but health conditions on the island are deteriorating. Mosquitos have become a serious problem.

One man had about 1,000 mosquito bites and had to be airlifted out. There are no reports of mosquito-borne illness yet, but city officials are trying to get the island sprayed with insecticide as soon as possible.

City water service was restored at the San Luis Hotel on the seawall at 10 p.m. Sunday. The service is likely to be expanded soon. The city is under a boil water notice. Officials are asking residents to avoid consumption of the water and restrict its use for showers and flushing only.

There is only one lane of traffic coming over the causeway onto the island, but it is still restricted. Officials said they want people out of the city at this time. Re-entry for Galveston residents is still days away. They need to be able to focus on larger issues without interruption, city officials said.

Officials are desperately trying to keep people off the seawall. Sightings from the air confirm that flood waters are filled with oil and chemicals. City officials are ordering people to stay off and out of the water.

Ninety percent of the island's land mass has been searched thus far, with five confirmed deaths. Rescuers haven't been able to search blocked up structures at this time. Eleven people were found alive in the Flagship hotel. Another 11 looters were rescued on the island and subsequently arrested.

Search and rescues have been made west of Avenue L and 61st Street. Results from that search have not been disclosed.

A refrigerated mobile morgue is on its way to the island. It will house the dead until they can be identified.
The emergency operations center at the San Luis Hotel is still serving as the city's command post on the island. People are expected to live there for as long as two weeks. Officials hope to move to city hall eventually.

Damage to the beaches is currently being assessed. Erosion has become a huge concern, but as of yet, no estimates have been made.

Significant death toll on Galveston Island, no doubt. Hard to tell though right now if we are talking 100 or so deaths, or several hundred, or in the thousands. Fortunately for them, the eye wobbled east at the last second. Another 5-10 miles west and the death toll probably would have been over 10,000.

the news said friday night that 100,000+had stayed and 2000 have been resued and noone else can get on or off. if the math is right its pretty grim. So why isn't there an outdrie from fellow texans. Wouldn't family memebres be talking to the press about missing family members?
