Has Anyone Ever Bought A #10 Can Of Mountain House Food?

Tuna packed in oil stores longer than tuna packed in water.

I've never purchased Mountain House's prepared entrees (because I don't want MSG in my food if possible), but I've purchased the freeze dried meats and I've been happy with my purchase.

Food will usually stay OK in cans for quite a number of years. As long as the ends are still depressed, meaning that it still retains the original vacuum from the canning process, it is usually OK.

The exception is tomato products or items of high acidity. These eat into and absorb the plastic lining. It is best to buy these in jars instead of cans.

Another mess I had was soda pop.

After time, it leaks through the cans and leaves a syrupy puddle and the chipboard case gets glued to the floor. (doh) There were no holes in the can and the seal wasn't broken, but there were hollow cans and a fucked up mess lol

I had some pepsi, coke, that expired in 2004 and this osmosis thing happened in 2007.

LOL. Actually, if you only knew how corrosive carbonic acid
is, you might take a second look at soda. Coca Cola for example has a special lining in an aluminum can just to be able to store coke up to the expiration date. My father keeps mentioning that they use carbonated water to clean out the intestines of chickens. So...

Ive personally never had it but did just recently purchase several #10 cans of butter, whole eggs and brown sugar.

Never eaten, but #10 eggs, milk and butter.

Better get it before the government buys it all

I have purchased a few cans this past year however, I certainly cannot attest to their quality or to how good they hold up at this point. I have purchased everything from beans to winter wheat, powdered eggs, and milk, freeze dried vegetables and fruit from Honeyville Grain and have not been disappointed.

I buy it from my work (fcsurplus) for camping in the summer. It's tasty. I haven't tried all the flavours yet but I am a fan of the beef stroganoff and scrambled eggs and bacon (a few of my friends find it a bit salty for their tastes but to each their own :) )

We recorded my first tasting of it and put it on youtube. I was worried that I wasn't going to like it but it got me hooked on it.
