John Denver - Country Roads It refers to "west Virginia", which is the western part of Virginia, not "West Virginia", the state. I live in western Virginia, between the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Alleghanies in the lower Shenandoah Valley. Not near the Shenandoah River. I ride my motorcycle on the Blue Ridge Parkway on the weekends. Right now I'm too far from home. [ link to www.youtube.com]
