Now, is there a simple explanation which can define what a virus IS? Hmmmm... that's actually a tough question. A virus is not strictly alive.. nor is it strictly dead... Poliomyelitis virus for example, may have over one million copies of its basic genetic information (RNA) inside a single, infected human intestinal mucosal cell.

The flu virus is CONSTANTLY mutating. Flu is one of the fastest mutating viruses known. That's why there is a new vaccine every year (which actually contains vaccines for the 3 most likely strains for a given year.)

First, you're speaking as if there is both a 'bird flu' and a properly isolated virus that is proven to cause 'bird flu'.

Second, you talk as if you know how this 'vaccine' will work, i.e. "it should lessen the symptoms". SHOULD being the operative word. Isn't that just handy-dandy and vague? So, line up for your "vaccinations", folks because it "should" "lessen the symptoms". Looks like smoke and mirrors to me.

You know what will make you immune to 'bird flu' (let's assume for a moment that it's a real thing)? What will make you immune is to come into contact with it and let your immune system do what it's meant to do. Then, you'll be immune.

Remember folks, it's still the flu. Bird or not. Thousands of people die in the US every year of non-bird flu. Many thousands more survive contact with the flu. More than anything, it boils down to your current state of physical health. Do you take care of yourself? Do you eat real food (not processed)? Get exercise, fresh air and ample rest?

I completely agree. However, I wouldn't suggest doing that. Do you know what the current Case Fatality Rate (CFR) is for H5N1 cases in Indonesia for 2008 ? It is about 84%. 84% of the people that contract H5N1 die. They die EVEN IF TREATED with anti-virals (Tamiflu). Without anti-virals and critical care, the CFR approaches 100%.
