GLP: Insulation specialists? INsulating indoor patio...
I've recently bought a trailer due to the housing and job problem. Its an awesome place.

There is an indoor patio that I found is soo cold. I tried going under the home and installing more insulation (Pink 4x8 boards and using 'great stuff' on the inside around the edges of the ceiling.

I also used the draft plastic around the windows and am going to weather strip the door. Its still real cold.

I think the ceiling is maybe the problem though. How can I make temporary insulation on the ceiling??????

At-least until spring or summer. Then I can really ripe off the roof and reinstall insulation.

Your problem is probable due to not having any heat in the outdoor patio part along with lack of insulation. If you are trying to heat by leaving door open to patio you have no shot, the heating units in trailers as sized for only the square footage in the home and not one ounze extra. what year is home, is it a mobile home or rv. give some particulars and I can probably figure out whats up.

So, what are you heating the patio with, and what size and year is the "trailer" is it a trailer as in mobile home park trailer or a trailer is pulled and camped in from spot to spot?

Im not heating the patio with anything. The trailer isnt a double wide or anything its a regular size with a flatish roof.

I havent turned the heating ON in the house yet this year. To save money. But its almost 15 degrees colder in the indoor patio.

bales of hay, newspaper etc, b careful
because of fire hazard...

This patio is like an addition built onto the side of the trailer.

Id like to turn it into a room to grow herbs and plants, becuase my kitchen is small. The windows arent double pain but are thin.

I think I might get extra carpet and curtains around the area and maybe get insulation and temporarily put it on the ceiling????

If you have sufficient height you could build a suspended ceiling beneath the existing and insulate between the two.

Re: GLP: Insulation specialists? INsulating indoor patio...
The problem is a combination of windows and the ceiling. If the ceiling is an awning, like mine, you'll need to put a special roll out roof over the top of it and then add a special coating. Before you do that though you can actually add insulation into the ridges of the already exisiting roof. The more windows you have the colder it will be. You may want to board up or drywall over a few of them and you'll notice a difference. This work is being done to my existing side patio as we speak. :)
