User ID: 513134 United States 10/20/2008 03:42 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Messes with my mind all the time, especially the original movie... man comes back in time to protect the not-yet-pregnant mother of their leader, who is then impregnated by the dude that went back in time who ends up being his leader's father! STILL trying to wrap my head around that! anything after 'but' is bullshit! STILL trying to wrap my head around that! It's really quite easy to understand... There's external time and internal time. External time is that which is around us, that which everyone can perceive. Times, dates, events. Internal time is that which is relevant to us, our own progression through life and accumulated experiences. Thus, when the father goes back in time, it is only external time that is affected, his internal time keeps going forward, otherwise, if his internal time had been affected then he would have continued to reverse in age until he didn't exist, thus defeating the purpose of time travel. So, due to the fact that it was only external time that was modified, to the father his life was progressing along as normal, going back in time to him would be no different than traveling to a new country. Many have asked if he is caught in a "time-loop" to be born, die and re-born again. The answer is no, because, and kind of like Titor'esque string theory, the modification of external time is linked to the progression of the father's internal time which always continued to move forward. (His death is the exit that prevents the loop). At the end of his life the modification of external time ceased and would not occur again because the string that vibrated to generate the external modification could only ever vibrate for the limited amount of time that the initiator (the father) was alive (of which his time moved consistently forward and resulted in an end). STILL trying to wrap my head around that! Oh, c'mon, don't you read the news? Moms get caught sleeping with their kid's friends all the time. Of course, most probably don't get caught, too. So the idea's pretty average, it's just the timeline part that's a little tough to digest...lol ~ ~ "He who does not understand your silence will probably not understand your words." ~Elbert Hubbard |

Messiah4Hire Very interesting. I like the way you think. Simplicity is the key to Heaven...more than ever. Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. (Mat 18:3) |
