Quoting: floydian slipin the dryer, washing machine, kitchen closet? Man I checked every possible nook and cranny. That cat is so damn noisy I would have heard him. Hell I'm still thinking I might be crazy and am still searching indoors. I don't believe he's here. Pardon me for interrupting your premature celebration, but I thought it only fair to give you a sporting chance as you are new to this game. |

Continue looking of course, but I wouldn't be surprised if he randomly shows up inside looking at you like you're crazy. And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 185055 United States 11/06/2008 09:18 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | OMG I hope he comes back. I've been through this torture before and it is TORTURE. Since your cat was indoors he will be totally disoriented outside. He doesn't know what the outside of your house looks like, so you need to put some dirty clothes or blankets on the border of your yard so if he wanders by, he will recognize the smell. Cats will try to make their way home but don't recognize smells so they just keep walking so this is important. Also, obviously calling him is important as well. They act completely different when they are outside and might not come to you, but might follow you home on the sly. Good luck my friend .... heartbreaking situation to be in |

When he comes home, he'll look pretty tired. Quoting: ElijahI'm thinking the same. I put on my nerd hat for a bit and that seems to be the story in my paranoid hectic Google searches. But many times they do not return. He has no clue about cars, other animals, etc. And he may not return in good health at all, if he even does. Maybe a cricket or two, but he's an eater and is so damn prissy he won't even get all the way in his litter box. Kind of balances on the edge. I'll be sleeping downstairs hoping he get's home soon. If you give him soft food, open up a can - they can hear that a mile away. If he's outside, he's looking for a female and he'll be back eventually. He probably spotted one while he was looking out the window. Try leaving some food right inside the doorway. Don't worry - they don't forget who feeds them! |

My wife tends to think it's over, that he's gone. Quoting: The BossIt's NOT OVER. Please tell your wife it is not over at all. It's only been a day. There is a very good possibility he is hiding on your property somewhere and too afraid to come out. This has happened to me before and they do come back .... as long as they can. Yes they can wander far and not be able to find their way home, but indoor cats don't really tend to do that. They tend to be a little more cautious. You said you put his cat beds out for scent. Great job, that will help alot. Cats are night creatures ... he will probably trying to find his way home in the middle of the night. Keep the door open if you can or the screen so you can hear him call out. Keep it positive and give your wife hope. It's not over |
